You know I’m an AT fan, so this is a great choice imo. Congrats.

That is a beautiful watch, congratulations. The teak dial and colour really work well.

Interesting to see that, with a polished bezel and highlights on the case, Omega has chosen to use a fully brushed bracelet.

Great looking watch and I’m interested in the process you went through choosing it.
Like you I’ll be trying to sell some watches in order to part-finance a retirement age purchase this year and the AT is one watch that I’m considering purchasing, particularly if I can get a blue dial.

I prefer the spec of your watch, i.e. a Co-axial rather than a Master, in order to get the date cage on the dial but weren’t they discontinued some time ago?

So is yours a 41mm, pre-owned?

Mine is pre-owned, it is 41mm and I did most of my research on good old EBay though I had a 'net watch buddy at times guide then restrain me.

I knew the look I wanted and I committed to go Co-Axial rather than quartz, I also knew I didn't want the current issue "across the dial" teak either. I was guided into looking only at examples with box and papers though I understand that both can be bought separately. Then it was a matter of setting a budget, biding my time and being ready to commit!

I was almost starting to consider a trawl of high street dealers for New Old Stock which would have meant another price jump.

This dial isn't quite as "active" as the L&H Cerberus dial which I'm getting used to ably assisted by SWMBO who thinks this is the better watch for "the older gent".

I can't promise that this bracelet is original to the watch as I haven't wrapped a damp towel round my head to wade through the cards and book yet but it is certainly an Omega bracelet. It does take away some sparkle or maybe it focuses the sparkle in the dial? A bit of sunshine would help...... 8)

I was concerned about your raison d'etre of selling off your collection on account of your retirement. Now that you have this, I can understand why.

Top notch. Enjoy.

And given the differences between the price points of the two we would be astonished if the Cerb came closer? Cerb listing heads-up btw
Clarky wrote:Fantastic watch, I had a 41mm version with the opaline dial that I sold as I realised that I prefer smaller watches but I wish I had got around to getting another one in the 38.5mm as it is such a great watch.

Enjoy wearing it
At 41mm it does look big and I think the relatively slim 20mm bracelet pulls it back. If I'd had the option to try both sizes I don't know how I'd have chosen one oveer the other.

The bracelet is definitely correct for that model (the first 8500 AT, with the polished date surround). Later models have a PCL bracelet.

Great watch and in my humble opinion by far the best version it looks much better with the frame around the date.
Enjoy.

Funny how there's a "curiosity" for the dark teak dial.....
