Incoming: Bremont number 9

Post by downer »

It seems a while since I've had much time to think about watches, what with one thing and another. However, this week, I have managed to acquire my 9th Bremont. Now, obviously I have not still got nine Bremont watches. I've got two... it's just I've now got two the same.

Or at least, similar, if not the same. During my in-out-in collecting of the brand, I've tried a bunch of different models but finally come around to thinking I have two preferences.

1) I like the 40mm case better than the 43mm. Although I can wear both sizes and the 43mm is not massive in the lug-to-lug, it does tend to come with a taller case, and that's something I don't really get along with.

2) Despite the fact that Bremont straps are excellent and the bracelet is probably not as well enginerred as the watches, I prefer the watches on the bracelet.

So, thanks to this forum, I got an opportunity to trade another watch with Wyatt (0uatiOW) and acquired his S300 Black:

Now, those with sharp eyes and long memories may recall that I already have an S300 - in blue:

I did not expect to go down the "pairs" rabbit hole of watch collecting again (having been there a couple of times in the past), but there you go. When you like something, you like it...

If anyone sees an S300 White on a bracelet at a decent price, I'd be interested to hear about it. :D

An excellent acquisition there, Richard, and I’m glad to hear it was a successful deal all round. Congratulations.

I’m glad you like it! Fabulous pictures - far better than mine, indeed if I’d seen them a week ago, you may not have got it....

Seriously though, I released this one because I had 2 very similar, and strangely enough, that’s where you ended up. I have to admit they do make a nice pair.

Great pick up Richard. I like your blue and I possibly like the black even more. Chuck in the very sensible 40 mm size and bingo. I very much approve.
Can’t believe you have had 9! Where does the collecting time go eh!
Enjoy it!
Edit....
great pics by the way
Edit edit.... what did you trade out for this?
Cheers now, Paul

Congrats Richard, that looks very nice. Those 40mm Bremonts do look a lot more manageable than the 43mm ones. Lovely photos too.

Yes, the blue is nice, but the matt black is surprisingly attractive - and there's definitely enough difference between the two. :D

The 9...MBII, S500, Solo, Alt1-C, Terra Nova, Alt1-ZT/51, S300 Blue, U22, S300 Black

The U22 was traded.

Top notch acquisition Richard; although the Supermarine 2000 would be more up my street

All we need now is for @0uatiOW (Wyatt) to declare what he received for his side of the trade.

^^ I was fortunate to receive a Bremont U-22 as my side of the trade. The condition, as promised, is excellent - not a mark on it.

I listed the S300 for sale because I also have an S301, so I felt there was a bit of an overlap, so one of them had to go.... and go it did, because @downer (Richard) contacted me on Monday with a “long shot” offer of a trade. It wasn’t long before the deal was agreed. I love Bremont watches, and have always liked the MB, on which the U-22 is based, but the U-22 has a different dial design, an extended date window.

It also features an exhibition caseback (revealing a beautiful bronze rotor) and this, for me, is the most delicious improvement over the MB’s closed caseback.

Definitely a case of win-win, and facilitated by Sales Corner.

Lovely watch.

I tried one on in Southampton some time ago and it looked great and fitted perfectly.

Thanks, Richard.

I'd not read that post, as I think it got posted pretty much as the same time as mine, above it. #-o #-o

I'll agree on the U-22 BZ front.

As you say; win, win.

The S300 is probably the only Bremont that I like so two of them sounds like a great idea.

I tried these both on a while ago and had a serious debate over which one I would choose if it came to it, never occurred to me to get both!
