Incoming - 3rd time lucky
Incoming - 3rd time lucky
A couple of weeks ago I had a close encounter with an early 70s Mark II Speedy - liked it, but the Stealth DLC treatment that had been applied, caused me to walk away. Then last Friday, whilst on my way to Pret for a sandwich I saw a white dial Ulysse Nardin big date GMT that was different to anything I have, with the added bonus of being a non bling, no 2nd mortgage required UN. But after research I decided that the options at servicing time may end up being restrictive/expensive - so my sensible head won and I walked away.
However today I saw a 2014 pre-owned silver dial Speedmaster Racing co-axial on a bracelet, at 40mm the perfect size for me and ticks my "I really would like a white/silver dial chrono" box. I saw it online last night and went to work today with the intention of calling into the retailer to try it out.
So I am now one happy owner of something that I have looked at on and off for about a year and wouldn't have been able to buy had I not walked away from the two above.
So before you say "pictures" hear they are:
And a couple with my broad arrow speedy:
Thanks for looking
Neil

Thanks chaps, I am really pleased with it and sufficiently different in detail from the broad arrow to be able to "justify" the purchase.

Living proof that not all white dialled Speedies are revolting. Nice one, Neil.

Re: Incoming - 3rd time lucky
i like that a lot. i've always thought that if i got a speedy, it would be an early 60s white dial speedy with the 321 in it, and i'm a big fan of the project alaska, so this fits in that general realm for me very well. grats and nicely done!

Further proof that you can't go wrong with a Speedy! Well done!

Re: Incoming - 3rd time lucky
Thanks for the comments. Have just adjusted the bracelet and am wearing it again today. My 1st Omega with a bracelet - I hadn't realised just how easy it would be to remove/add links compared with bracelets that have friction pins, that I usually manage to mess up in some way when adjusting!

Very nice, and the cufflinks work well with it.
