Great write up. I have admired these for while after seeing a photo of one on a chap out in the snow - it looked stunning.
I have had a look on their website and I cannot find any mention of the caseback engraving. This would be a huge bonus for me. Do you have a link that I can read up on the prices/process?

To deliberately scratch a watch like that makes me wince.
Anyway, my Damasko is completely unmarked still, though to be fair I don't treat it that roughly.
I have gone swimming in the the sea with it though.
And I like the look of the case material. It's so different.

Great review! This watch has definitely climbed towards the top of my wish list. Great pics. Love the look of the leather strap in the first pic. Classic look.

Wasn't that a scalpel blade lightly applied?
I'm not saying that wouldn't mark a standard watch, but let's be accurate!
The link said screwdriver and to be honest hes not putting a lot of effort in either.

I don't think I would if it was my watch either!

Regarding scratches, I think its sufficient to say that nothing in our daily lives and chores will harm the watch. I wouldn't deliberately sabotage my watch. And I still can't see the scratches on the Damasko in the TZ-UK thread (edit: Can see but its tiny). I think just the fact that the Sinn scratches look like scratches, and the Damasko scratches look like a minuscule spot on the case looks more polished when seen at an angle speaks volumes.
I gave mine a blast of UV light before sleeping last night and this is a good way to make sure the lume is decent throughout the night. The 12 o clock marker has red lume on mine.
I still do not agree with the 'plasticky look' comment. It looks quite close to beadblasted, in fact, my Seiko SNK803 case looks very similar to the Damasko. The edges of the Seiko 5 have scratched though. Damasko watches are quite understated and look cheaper than they are but they are built tough!
Also, I suggest buying through an AD (such as Watchmann or Page and Cooper) for better service as compared to buying from Damasko directly.
Another very cool thing - the day wheel is in both English and German and you can switch back and forth anytime.

I agree with all you have written about Damasko and scratches and marks. I had the DA36, it was great, when I sold it, it looked as good as new, no marks on the case whatsoever. It just wasn't interesting enough for me and at 40mil, a bit small. I would happily buy another model though, or a Sinn, the U1 being a favourite.

I like the 40mm size and low profile. I understand its small for some, to those people I suggest looking at the 42mm Damaskos - the 3x3 models are 42mm, so are the chronos with bezels I guess .Caller wrote:I agree with all you have written about Damasko and scratches and marks. I'm quite liking one of the new Basel 2015 Sinns - the 240 St. Tegimented case, same case as the vintage 142, internal bezel, relatively good price.

One thing this forum needs is well worded and informative posts like this.
I have looked at Damasko many times (even back when they were sold on Timefactors) but they just look like they wear big even though they are decently sized. One of those I'd need to handle first but they make a perfect one watch no question.

I miss all the great things that may never be.

Can't help but feel this http://www.damaskousa.com/Damasko-DC56- ... raph-Watch is the closest thing to look at that I've ever seen to a CW Typhoon. Uncanny!

Yes, but the Damasko won't crack if you drop it. Also there were IWCs with the original top gun design before the CW 1000.Simon57 wrote:Can't help but feel this http://www.damaskousa.com/Damasko-DC56- ... raph-Watch is the closest thing to look at that I've ever seen to a CW Typhoon. Uncanny!
