Help needed with next meds, please?

Post by Amor Vincit Omnia »

Unexpectedly, I find myself in the position where I might shortly be able to splash out on ONE of these...

I love Roman numerals, so the Ludwig appeals to me a lot, but the more I look at the Tangente...

What would YOU go for? Not that I'll take the least notice, obviously!

Tangente for me every time as unlike you, I don't like roman numerals! Both lovely watches though and I would very much like to add a nomos to my set at some point.

Nice predicament to be in. :D
Normally I would go for the Tangente, but the more I look at the Ludwig the better it looks.
So, no help from me. :?

The Ludwig is nice and I do like Roman numerals (or whatever we're supposed to call them instead of "numerals"; I can never quite remember and I am normally keen on pedantry for its own sake).

But the classic and only Nomos to own if you have one is that Tangente.

The design is a classic and I can honestly say that I think, with its art deco looks and beautiful movement, you will look at it in twenty years time and it will still bring a smile to your face.

Other Roman-numeralled watched are available. Get a Stowa MO or a C1. But with this brand you have only one* choice.

*I'd buy a Tangomat as anything less than about 38mm looks stupidly small on me.

I've been pondering which Nomos for some months - Ludwig, Tangente or Orion (sorry for the additional curve ball). Think I'm almost there with an Orion Datum...beautifully elegant and simple watch design whichever you go for.

In that case I wont say. Only that I don't like Roman numerals.

Tangente, the Roman numerals look anorexic on an already thin markings design.

I prefer the Tangente. But both would make a very good purchase

I suspected more people would lean towards the Tangente, and I can see why. There is something about the design that makes it "iconic" (an overused term, perhaps).
It'll be a little while before I get it (I think)...as it will be my most expensive watch purchase I want to be sure; this won't be an impulse buy.
Mortis - great balanced argument. My 3 favourite vintages are all 35-36mm, and it's a great size for me. Also I prefer manual to automatic, so the Tangomat wasn't an option...much more expensive too!
Thank you all for the quick, informed and honest feedback!

If I was into the smaller time-piece, the Bauhaus pedigree of the Tangente would attract me more than the Ludwig, at least initially and perhaps predictably. However, closer inspection of the Ludwig suggests a slightly different and more appealing lug arrangement and crown design. I also like the chapter ring detail and the elegant dimensions of the numerals. So, if I were faced with the choice and had been able to try them both out, I suspect the Ludwig would get my vote.

There's no bad choice.
I'd get the Tangente

With a choice of the two, i would choose the tangente.

With a choice of the two or another brand similar specs, i would choose other brand.

Not much help, but my honest opinion.
