Help me choose, please!
Whilst the Solo wouldn't be my first choice I'd buy the one "nice" watch I really wanted, so the Solo is my choice for you. Especially if you're getting a good deal.

Big fan of the Damasko and would love a dc56 but you have had the Solo on your radar for a while. If the deal is right you will kick yourself in the end if you don't get it.
Worst case flip it for the other 2

I like all 3 watches individually. If the Bremont has been on your wants list for a while - then get the bremont. You'll probably come back to it in the end anyway.

Re: Help me choose, please!
While I find Bremont in general to be overpriced, and the Solo very derivative of the C5A Mk II, I'm voting for the Solo. Partly because while it is derivative of the C5A, it's still a bloody excellent dial, and an amazing case. I didn't 'get' Bremont at all until I handled a couple at Tourneau. Now I get them, but I couldn't pay the asking price.
Having said that, it's not for me, it's for you. Your first thought was for the Solo, so that is probably the one you need to go for. Watches are an emotional purchase, so when your wallet allows, follow your heart, and your heart is telling you "Solo". Secondly, since it's used, it will be a better value than new, and will the Bremont hardened case, will likely look just like new.
Solo. Do it.

this is the answer to me. unless you're really sold that either the oris or the damasko is better than the solo, but the better watch you've always wanted and don't "settle" because you can get two.james80 wrote:Whilst the Solo wouldn't be my first choice I'd buy the one "nice" watch I really wanted, so the Solo is my choice for you. Re: Help me choose, please!
Guys,
HUGE thanks to you all for your views, so honestly expressed. I couldn't have asked for more helpful comments.
You have helped me clarify my thoughts regarding which way to proceed, which is.....
I am going to get the Bremont.
It certainly seems that the Bremont Solo polarises opinion somewhat! Which is fine, of course - we can't all like the same things. For me, it plays to my love for simplicity and for the quality of details, both of which it has in abundance. However, I can certainly see why others might view it as "boring". I think it needs to be seen close up to really appreciate it.
Getting the Solo will leave my need for a big diver unfulfilled for now, but I can give myself more time to decide on which model to go for, if not the Oris, whilst saving again for it. I also have a desire for a bronze watch, so I may look to kill two birds with one stone and get a big bronze diver!
But, for now, it's full steam ahead for the White Solo. If the deal for the used one falls through then my local AD has offered me a reasonable deal on a new one, so that would be the fallback option (although a little more expensive, of course). I shall let you know how I get on.
Thanks again for all the views expressed. MUCH APPRECIATED.

I've tried it on and am very happy that it's the right option for me. There was a time when I would have thought seriously about the 37mm version, but my tastes have shifted towards larger watches over the past year, particularly for aviator watches.
