Anything in particular that you like? Perhaps you've got an Elliot Brown, if so which model?

They're not far from you; just along the South Coast a bit.

I particularly like the Holton. I already have a Canford and considering a Kimmeridge soon. Yes, Poole isn't a million miles from Plymouth and both share militarial nuances. Have to say that the attention to detail that EB put in to their designs is brilliant, especially for such a small brand. Very nice chaps too. Marloe is another UK brand that are similarly passionate.

Having a quick scan it seems there are a few EB fans here too. I see too that you have owned one or two models yourself Guy. 👍

Master of the understatement there ol' boy.

Are we talking own or owned? If it is 'currently own' my head count, or should it be case count, is;-

Canford - 3
Bloxworth - 6
Bloxworth 3HD - 1
Tyneham - 1
Holton - 5

Owned - several others.

This has always been my point of view with the brand. I came across them because I was a keen outdoor enthusiast that had always liked a nice wristwatch. Their approach to making watches seemed to marry those two things well. I'm always looking at other brands that I might one day buy from but, in my opinion, EB sets quite a high bar in terms of design, build quality and value for money. The team down in Poole are also lovely to deal with.

^^^^ Excellent point Des.

Have you seen EB now have their new Tropic Straps available?

They look exceptional and I'll be ordering one this weekend; probably black with a bronze deployant.

Love the Broadstone. Rare beast

Would you say the Kimmeridge is fine for any wrist, being 38mm but quite chunky?

Just had a look at the tropic straps, Guy, they look superb. The amount of design consideration that has gone in to them is quite something

Guy, as you are the resident expert on all things Elliot Brown, what is your opinion on the best model to get first for someone who has never experienced the brand? I am considering getting one and am initially leaning towards the Holton 101-001 due to the connection to the SBS. That being said, I really like the design of some of their other models as well. I want to add a quartz to my collection, so an Elliot Brown would tick that box nicely as well.

Yes and no.

Its styled as a Ladies watch so you won't get me wearing one; although size wise on my 7.5" wrist I'd just about be comfortable with it, even if its a bit small.

However, for my G/F whilst she is a petite lady with a <6" wrist (probably 5.5") she wears hers on a daily basis albeit on a NATO as the EB fitted end straps don't have small enough holes. :-k :-k It looks fine in a fashionably large & chunky way. :) :)

Are you thinking of it for yourself or someone else?

Oh, Malcolm, that's a tough question.

I'd say the Holton 101-001 is a slam dunk choice for you, it being the 'official' MOD issue watch. The Holton is, though, an out and out fit for purpose Mil Spec watch; if that's what you want?

Notwithstanding, the Holton NIVO has the most evocative colourway with a Mil Spec back story to it. The Holton is fairly low profile and wears well.

Tough call.

If you want a general Outdoors / Adventure piece than the Canford or Bloxworth will be the choice (with availability pre-owned  ). Be warned though, they're sizeable with 44mm case width and 53mm lug-2-lug, plus hefty due to the big case and the steel/elastomer shock protection system (used in all EB watches).

The new Bloxworth 3HD at 40mm/41mm (case/bezel) is a more generally wearable size with bags of unique detail.

Overall; horses for courses. Hope that helps.

Thanks Guy. I'll let it marinate for a few days and see what videos and pictures there are that I can review to see which direction I want to take. Like an idiot I missed out on their RM special edition earlier this year by procrastinating. That one should be delivered to those that ordered it pretty soon.
