I wouldn't rule it out (I have pretty relaxed board meetings!!) - but usually no.hughesyn wrote:Would you wear tee-shirt and shorts to the board meeting (with your Monster) because you woke up and felt it was tee-shirt and shorts day?BobMunro wrote: Call me a non-conformist child of the sixties if you want! but I don't get the matching watch for occasion stuff.
If I wake up and it feels like a Submariner day, or a Speedy day, a Daytona day or an Orange Monster day - I'll wear what I feel like wearing. I have no problem attending a board meeting wearing a Monster, or being dragged around the shops by SWMBO wearing a classic three hander dress watch. If I'm in a high-powered meeting or wandering the streets in tee-shirt and shorts I look at other people's watches (no surprise there!). I can't recall ever thinking that a watch is inappropriate - only whether I like it or not, or desire it or not.
If I am wearing a suit to match the occasion I would colour coordinate belt and shoes - usually black but may revert to brown or oxblood if it was a more relaxed affair and the suit colour allowed for it. If I wear a tie it will always be with the top button done up, and the point of the tie will just sit on the top of my belt buckle - never higher or lower. If the shirt is long-sleeved it will always be done up at the cuff - with cufflinks as appropriate. Tie coordinates with shirt which in turn coordinates with suit. very conformist!!
Now, the size, colour, fastening and functionality of a piece of metal on my wrist (which in a formal occasion is likely to be hidden under a cuff anyway), is for me a personal adornment and choice, and apart from my wedding ring a watch is the only jewellery I ever wear. A watch is not part of an outfit for me - but I readily understand if somebody else has a different view
