i agree - thanks for taking the time to put this together..halfmacgas wrote:great post, thanks for sharing
got to agree with this too - i can't get too excited by designs that are almost exact copies of what's gone before.hughesyn wrote:Saves time and money designing original pieces I suppose.
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Are there many members here that have a Dan Henry? Currently looking for a new daily, I really like the look of the Pilot Chrono and the Auto diver, any comments on build quality etc?

I have both a 1963 chrono and a 1970 diver. They are fabulous value for money, well made and finished.Justdave wrote:Are there many members here that have a Dan Henry? I was so impressed by them, that as soon as the 40mm 1970 diver was announced, I bought one to replace the 44mm one I already owned as it was admittedly larger than I would ideally prefer. The 40mm one is perfect for me, as is the slightly thinner, but also slightly larger diameter 1963.

That’s great, thanks. I’ve never bought a watch without trying it first so this helps a lot!gaf1958 wrote:I have both a 1963 chrono and a 1970 diver. Re: Dan Henry’s Inspiration
I too have a 1963 chrono and a 1970 diver. In fact the 1970 is the very one that previously belonged to Gary (gaf1958) above. I had it 5 or 6 weeks ago and was so impressed with it I had to order a 1963 new from Dan Henry for my birthday and received it a week ago. I am equally impressed with it. The quality of finish of the cases and back, and attention to detail of the dials are really excellent. For the money you can't go wrong, You also get a nice canvas and leather watch roll with it which is far more useful than a silly big box. As the original author of this thread article you can probably tell that I have become a bit of a Dan Henry fan

Great to hear you’re so happy with them! Really gives confidence in buying without trying, Thanks.
My other question is: what are the chances I could pick up a pre owned C60 Trident 300 for a similar price to a DH? I’m torn between the 3 watches at the moment but the DH’s are currently ahead purely on price.

Re: Dan Henry’s Inspiration
I recently sold my Trident 300 on here. Used examples come up here occasionally and on ebay for around the same price as a new DH. It is a very nice watch and I enjoyed wearing it for a while, but I actually replaced it with the DH 1970 which I find a more interesting watch and is of course automatic rather than quartz if that is what you fancy. I think the 1970 is better value for money and I enjoy the 60/70's vintage feel.

Re: Dan Henry’s Inspiration
I bought a C60 trident 300 from the sales corner yesterday for £125 which is half the price of the Dan henry 1970 but as Nigelb001 said, they aren't really comparable price wise due to one being automatic and one quartz.

£125 sounds like a bargain, in that case, perhaps I’ll get away with both!DISJT wrote:I bought a C60 trident 300 from the sales corner yesterday for £125 which is half the price of the Dan henry 1970 but as Nigelb001 said, they aren't really comparable price wise due to one being automatic and one quartz.

Good to see you developing the right attitudeJustdave wrote:£125 sounds like a bargain, in that case, perhaps I’ll get away with both!
£125 is a great price for a Trident 300. Mine went for £155 on a bracelet and another one went on here recently for £150 on a NATO. So you know the price range so time to keep your eye out. If you want a new DH don't worry about ordering from their website, very efficient and are shipped free and fully tracked from their warehouse in Germany - mine was here in 5 days.

To much appreciation Simon; thank you. I have subsequently moved it onward again to an esteemed member 'up north'.Scrogg wrote:. . . . I delved into the world of Dan Henry last year when I purchased a 1963 based on comments and recommendations on here, but just didn't "get it" so it was moved on within the forum practically unworn.
Which came via me.nigelb001 wrote: . . . . . In fact the 1970 is the very one that previously belonged to Gary (gaf1958) above. I had it . . . .
Gary was a gent selling it to me, only doing so when he bought the 40mm version. I've subsequently moved it on to Nigel only to make room for my recently arrived Magrette Kara, which is a similar, and also 44mm, piece.
Finally, @nigelb001 thank you for your most excellent write up on Dan Henry and his range of watches. The 1939 (white dial) and 1968 dragster chrono are two that I would like to try someday.
Top notch.
