Bremont Super marine 300
Bremont Super marine 300
Now being reasonably new to watches I didn't really know the company before the recent changes and rebrand. I'd decided that I wanted a dive watch from day one but hadn't found a diver that just gave me that final push over the line. Having recently purchased a blue marine trident followed by an omega aqua terra I wanted to put a cap on my collection for a while by purchasing a quality dive watch.
I have been just about everywhere trying as many brands and models as possible in the 5k area, which I imagined would buy me all the diver I'll ever need! After a thorough search I narrowed it down to just a few, the Tudor pelagos or black bay, the Longines hydro conquest being the main contenders as well if course as the CW offerings, especially the new Lumiere. I'd popped into the Bremont boutique on my travels as well as all the other retailers but didn't try a Bremont on although I'd looked at them but for some unknown reason dismissed them.
While popping up to Bluewater again recently, I popped in to Bremont to just satisfy any curiosity and lay any doubt to rest, but this time something hooked my attention, it was like their design language just suddenly gelled with me! So after asking to handle and try them and with the benefit of this model being well within my budget, I instantly just clicked there and then. I have no idea why but the feel of the piece, the finish and the spec seemed to be more than enough for me and my gut instinct told me that this was the watch to purchase. The best part though was the comfort, it instantly just moulded to my wrist as if I'd always been wearing it. My daughter (not easily swayed or impressed) and sales staff (of course they did) instantly said it looked right on me, especially in the green and against my tattoos. I tried the black with date window and the blue but they weren't quite what I wanted and didn't have the impact of this particular colour. A green watch wasn't even on my radar but photos etc can never tell you how something feels, looks and fits until you physically try it for yourself in the flesh.
The next part was harder, discounts were not forthcoming at the AD, so I walked straight to a general watch retailer to receive a healthy discount. To make sure it was the watch I wanted I had a final wear of the other contenders. The Longines came close and perhaps had the best spec for the money but the Bremont just felt more solid if lacking a little in the reserve category 50 odd hours is plenty for me). The Bremont also felt head and shoulders above the others in the bracelet arena. The link set up allowed the bracelet to mould to the contours of my wrist with the option of a very nice additional adjustment inside the clasp. The Tudor range although lovely and solid just didn't hit the same sweet spot for me, I can't really explain why.
So before I purchased I went back to the AD (as promised) to let them know that i wasn't purchasing direct from them. So they went away and came back with a decent discount, nearly as good as the other retailers but offered me an additional rubber strap and a guided tour of their headquarters as part of the deal. I felt this was a slightly better deal and the prospect of a future visit to the Wing at my leisure sealed the deal. Also, the staff were a nice lot and clearly wanted my business compared to other retailers, I felt they had earned my business. I even got a call from a member of staff who was on lunch when made the purchase to thank me for my business and tell me to pop in next time I'm about and to see him for any further adjustments etc, a nice touch.
So to sum up. I am very pleased, I got a watch I instantly bonded with when trying on, it was well within my budget, I got a 2nd strap which I wanted anyway and a discount on the cash side of things. Overall, pretty much all you can ask for. Fingers crossed that it's reliable and continues to wear like it does at the moment. Oh, and that the brand doesn't tank.
I'll add the pictures that I also added to the non CW of the day wearing thread.
Thanks for reading, hope it all makes sense. , any further info please feel free to ask
Thanks

Re: Bremont Super marine 300
Interesting. I’ve made no secret of being a big Bremont fan and have also shared my disappointment with their new direction. It's interesting to read about these new watches from someone without any preconceived ideas about Bremont, good or bad.
Personally I liked the old trip tick cases and these new watches are a departure from that, however I’ve yet to actually handle one to see what they are actually like.
Sometimes a watch just calls out to you for reasons you can’t explain and it sounds like this one did just that to you and I hope you’ll love it for many years to come.
Interesting to read your thoughts on the bracelet, historically this was always a Bremont weak spot so it’s good to read these new ones are actually rather good.
Well done, I think this might be one of the first I’ve seen posted by an owner of a new model Bremont, including in the Bremont Facebook groups.

Thanks @iain I'm not much of a writer I'm afraid, I just wrote more about the emotional side and how it made me feel along with the buying experience as opposed to the technical side.
Interestingly, I did try one of the older trip tick cased divers, a special edition in a beautiful grey/blue colour. It was lovely but hand on heart I preferred the newer model completely, especially the bracelet. Of course, the fact this it's also quite a few quid cheaper than the older version sweetened the deal even more for me.
Thanks for your comments, glad you enjoyed it.

I'm also glad to hear that "new" Bremont are reaching new buyers and it certainly does look good.
Great decision esp. after trying other brands and models to make sure it's "the one". The thrill of the chase for a discount too makes it all a little sweeter I expect. Enjoy!

One thing I didn't mention, the whole buying experience was excellent. As previously mentioned I took my time and had a few visits as I initially didn't think the Bremont would be a contender. Although the staff knew I wasn't sure on their products they were welcoming, friendly, professional and generally just plain old fashioned nice decent people. When I did eventually purchase with them the service was flawless. Everything was easy and as straightforward as a purchase can be. Now I know we are spending a reasonable amount of money and that they are expected to deliver a certain level of service which I have received many times from multiple retailers but this never felt contrived or forced. It felt natural and genuine. It made the whole Bremont experience just that little bit more special than other retailers I have purchased from. As previously said, I got a call when I returned home from a member of staff who was on lunch when I returned to purchase, a real nice touch.

Re: Bremont Super marine 300
I have seen two of the new models on the Bremont FB groups, but boths TN's. This is the first of the new supermarines I have seen.
Good luck to the OP and I hope he enjoys his watch, but he missed a bit of a tick really, as the new models are now being signifiantly reduced online.

Re: Bremont Super marine 300
@Caller thanks. No, I saw the discounts available online as well as direct from multiple watch retailers. I went in armed and managed to get a solid discount and freebies with a bit of work. To be honest, I feel like I got a great deal and the watch is worth every penny of the rrp let alone discounted.Caller wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 1:36 pmI have seen two of the new models on the Bremont FB groups, but boths TN's. Pat, thanks for a very interesting review. I’m in danger of just repeating Iain’s earlier post but it really is interesting to read a review unbiased by history and the recent negative opinions on the brand. As a green watch fan myself I think it looks great!

Re: Bremont Super marine 300
Thanks, like I said previously, I just told it like it is. Apart from a friend who bought one a few years ago when I wasn't concerned with it at all I really had no knowledge of the brand prior to the recent changes and actually, I'm glad as it allowed me to make a judgment without any outside interference. It's strange that a lot of opinions (mostly, hastily read on the day I decided to purchase in the Starbucks opposite) on the Supermarine seem to say that it doesn't seem to stand out in any massive way. Well, for me that's part of the attraction, you know it's quality but it lets you know in a quiet, subtle way without screaming look at me, once on the wrist it just goes about it's business of exuding it's quality. Although the green and blue shades used aren't particularly inconspicuous, I think they are just about the right side for a daily wearer in multiple situations. Hopefully you'll know what I mean! It's a touch of personal luxury that just suits me these days and makes me smile. I'm not really into showing off or impressing anyone, I just like to do my own thing and go about my business, usually fairly quietly and under the radar for the most part. I only posted my thoughts on the watch as it was in complete contrast to the aforementioned opinions and thoughts that I'd read or watched that day. Obviously it's exceeding my expectations in just about every way.timepieces_and_bags wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 4:23 pm Pat, thanks for a very interesting review. Ps, that's not to say I don't like an attention grabbing watch in certain situations, just not for everyday use.

This makes alot of sense to me... "a judgement without any outside interference"... "subtle".... "not really into showing off" which I think sums it up very well. Great write up
Re: Bremont Super marine 300
I hope you're still enjoying your Bremont @Redpat. It struck me that this thread has also shown the evolution of Bremont so with that in mind here's my ALT1-C which represents one of the first Bremont models identifiable by the old Bremont logo (different from @maclink's model above), the 2.5 minute marker on the chrono subdial, the 44mm trip-tick case and "Swiss made" mark on the dial. This one is 14 years old and on my wrist this morning.
Re: Bremont Super marine 300
@RichM morning. Thanks, that's a very nice looking piece, it looks very fresh still, it's obviously been very well looked after and I imagine is a testament to the quality of the materials used in manufacture. I wouldn't mind an older Bremont. If one came up at a reasonable price and of course, I liked it, I would be very tempted.RichM wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:44 am I hope you're still enjoying your Bremont @Redpat. As regards to my Supermarine, yes I'm really enjoying it. It's a very easy watch to live with. No extra complications to consider and the new bracelet just allows me to put it on and not notice it at all until I remember I'm wearing it, then I just like to have a slightly prolonged glance. . All I need in a daily wearer.
Thanks
Pat

@Redpat
That's a very attractive new watch, Pat. I have seen some criticism of the new compass style logo, but it looks fine to me. It was good of you to give the first dealer a second chance, and also good they came through for you.
