This got me thinking about other words you may see on a dial. I wondered how many other watches have film titles on, by coincidence?

eg, some Tudor models have 'ROTOR' on the dial, and there is a film also called ROTOR:

Submariner:

are Bremont's worthy of their status and price tag? I see various debates about it on t'interweb.

They seem really expensive when compared to traditional higher end brands.

Well, you could wonder why any brand over a given price point is worth the money?

Also, why not ask what makes other brands less expensive than Bremont? You might get a new and interesting angle...

Personally, I think they are overpriced, but then I think that about many brands. It didn't stop me owning one though, and I'm planning on another at some point.
Ideal number of watches in your collection = current number of watches + 1...

They are overpriced. I will still buy one as they are investing in UK manufacture and that is important to me.

The cases are hardened and constructed like no other company. The lugs are really curved so a large watch wears smaller.
The boing model use 465 Steel which I believe was developed at Sheffield Uni.
They use a lot of lume. Even the anti-reflective layer is hardened and they use a lot of it.
The water proof rating is with the crown out.
They are all COSC.
They have a 3 year warranty.
They were using Gas Gas Bones for straps, and may have continued again which is cool.

They take a stock ETA and replace quite a few parts. I'll dig out the ATG forum post that gives the exact details later for you. I wish they would state this on their website but they don't. They haven't got as fare as their German competitors but if we want the UK to start making cool stuff again then we have to buy tooling.

With the move to the UK the quality will/has gone down, you just cannot magic up those skills immediately. New QA staff will help but the Swiss have been doing this for years.
They utterly screwed up with the publicity of their movement plans. There is nothing wrong with asking a specialist for a customised movement plan and then gradually machining it all yourself. If they had just said that then everyone would have been cool with it. This is pretty much what Roger Smith stated would have to be done to make mass produce watches in the UK.

If you have a problem with close ties with the military then you won't like them either. They give the armed forces a big discount but then they buy in bulk. If that annoys you then keep away.

The models do not have great second hand value or shall we say the value is unproven.

I personally like their designs, others may not.
They don't do funky complications like power-reserve or moon-phase both of which I really like.

If you can afford it and you want one then don't let anyone tell you what to spend your money on but this isn't going to be a Rolex style hedge against currency deflation.

Go on Bernie. Treat yourself. I think that you would appreciate the engineering side to them.
