Bell and Ross BR05 Skeleton - Blue

Post by Maraeburn »

Anybody seen this watch? The blue dial looks very similar to something I might have seen before???

I guess it shows what good value the CW variant is.

It does indeed.

There's also a nod to an illustrious sports watch in the case design.

It does indeed and whilst i think its very well executed and quite attractive, just seems a bit of a cynical marketing build based on design elements from 2 (maybe 3 actually) watches already on the market.
That said imitation and flattery and all that! 🙄😊

I think the biggest difference to the C60 is that the movement is truely skeletal. Where the C60 'simply' replaces the dial with the blue sapphire showing the (IMHO) quite dull date wheel dial-side, the B&R shows through to more of the running works, including the balance wheel and escapement. I think that's rather nice- but then it should be at 6400 euros!

Bears no similarity to any CW I have seen and B&R are softening the edges on a range of their watches. Still way too much bezel for my liking. But 10/10 for clarity, unusual in such designs.

Note too the absence of dial screws holding the sandwich of sapphire and blue plastic sheet in place. Altogether a better execution of an interesting design.

At €6k+ for the bracelet version, it probably should be.

Edit: sorry, Rich, you already pointed that out!

A couple of grand more than it should be but I have to admit I think they have done a really nice job with this. Handset and markers look good and the skeleton dial works well. Even like the blue rubber strap.
I think as a brand they are evolving nicely and while they still have the full on cockpit styles they have some far more subtle and very attractive options as well. Each update seems to always have an improvement.
Cheers now, Paul

Yhey claim it is a blue tinted sapphire. CW use a water-white sapphire with a blue plastic insert. I wonder if the B&R is really tinted?
