Hi Soporsche, I may be wrong but looking back at both these watches, I believe them to both have silver hands and indices. I think the lighting used by both owners makes one set appear black and the other appear white.

Aqua Terra 2503.60 "Marui" Pictures

Soporsche wrote:Thread resurrection, hi Blowfish and Gaf1958... Im unsure if you guys still have your Marui Aqua Terra's but remembered seeing this thread. Ive just searched and it appears one or both of you have traded!
I have recently been offered one of these at a fair (not steal by any means) price and have always admired them since seeing your pics, can either of you tell me if the differences are limited to black hands/indices vs white but otherwise identical? A quick google search seems to show pics/reference to both but no definitive comment as to versions?
I still own mine, and I can confirm Steve’s comments that they have polished hands and hour markers. I’m not 100% sure, but I recall that they may be white gold plated, which retains the high polish.

They pick up whatever colour is around them, which would account for them looking black in some pics, but in real life they’re very easy to read. I’ve commented a number of times that of all the watches I’ve owned (and there’ve been a few), the Marui is one of the most difficult watches to take truly representative photos of. Both the dial colour and the hands/markers frequently look nothing like they do in real life. The pics I posted above though, are pretty much what it does look like.

The dial colour (and its satin finish) is the only thing that differentiates the Marui from any other Aqua Terra. But does it really need anything else.

As I commented early on in this thread, the red is a fabulous colour, but is one that probably requires a large(ish) collection to “hide” in and be bought out on suitable occasions or with suitable attire.

Ah, thanks both for the clarification and observations.
The gent who offered me the watch is a dealer friend of a friend who took it in trade and sent me some pics, the hands looked decidedly white/silver and when doing the research the pics online looked either v black or v shiny silver but not the usual polished hands reflection variation (references read the same though) hence the uninformed question.
Love the AT as a watch shape and style, sold an AT few years ago and regretted it which i don't often.
As for the shade/colour love it, Im quite conservative but like statement pieces and dont mind a mild colour clash (Im less often in formal suits now). Im not an avid collector but a red face could hide in an eclectic mix of c.30 though this will reduce by approx half in next few months.
Hmmm, undecided... really like but I need to go try at some point.

Aqua Terra 2503.60 "Marui" Pictures

It’s a great watch and the 2500 Aqua Terras wear divinely well. 39.4mm case and I think only between 10-11mm thick IIRC. I really liked mine but I traded it for a white 40mm Speedmaster, primary reason being that a red dial is hard to keep in a total collection of 2-3 watches. There is only one version of this watch in one size with one handset (silver polished). The red is very difficult to photograph but as Gary says it’s a brilliant red.

Go for it :-)
