Any Chronoswiss Fans here?

Post by realmccoy12406 »

Just picked up a Grand Pacific Chronograph (the Green Thing) in a recent sale event. Been watching CS for some time now waiting for the right price and I am very pleased. Phillip

Watcha talkin' about Willis?? :)
I didn't realize Chronoswiss made watches with such a crown!
I guess they did and discontinued it, because all the new ones today still have their standard onion crown.
They are very good watches with in-house movements.
I hope you got it for a very good price!

I know what they are like as there is a small jewellers near where I live that stock them. Can't say I like them though.

The Grand Pacific models have a smaller crown, but it is multi faceted and beautifully machined with just a hint of an onion shape. Very unusual and eye catching. As far as the deal well...it was just too good to pass up. Phillip

I have long been a fan of Chronoswiss. I was disappointed when they went away from the coin bezels, but they have kept the coin design on many models on the bezel sides or case.

My favorite has always been the Opus Skeleton, but I am particularly fond of the Artist series and regulators.

They use NOS Enicar movements , but modify them to a high standard . I also believe they use other movements that are later modified .

Not a big fan of the coin edge bezels so the GP Chronograph is perfect for me. Engine is a modified and decorated ETA 7750. Phillip

I am. Recently acquired a Timemaster Big Date after admiring for some time, then up popped an offer I could not refuse.

Things to enjoy:

Dial is gorgeous deep gloss black enamel
Big date is so legible and switches instantly at midnight
Quality is stunning as is accuracy, mine is running +1s a day.
Coin edge case - striking, elegant and precise.
PR, the most useful of complications after date, very nicely executed (and lumed) so that the dial remains balanced.
Luminance - dial and bezel, deep 3D application and very effective, all night is no problem
Decorated movement visible through the sapphire case back.

Oh and that oversized onion crown - love it, if you've got it flaunt it. Very easy to use and makes winding (if you need to) and setting a gentle, smooth breeze. The machining matches the coin edging, lovely. No problem at all with comfort against my wrist.

Criticisms: only that the rubber strap is somewhat sticky, but I'll cure that by replacing the buckle with the deployant.

I'm very impressed - Chronoswiss is a very underrated brand and deserves a lot more appreciation than it gets. Superb attention to detail, delightful.
