Looks great! Bang for the buck, it's hard to beat a Vostok. I have several, all are modded in one way or another.

Thanks, any pics of your mods Marko? I'd be interested to see. Already thinking about the next project!

I posted them in a thread here a few days ago. It's called Vosok Amphibia Mods. Please feel free to add your mods to that thread.

Ah yes I did see those, didn't realise that was your thread. They all look great. Love the grey/black dial with new bezel.

Thanks! It's currently on a strap that cost more than the watch. It's a CWL rubber strap.

Without question the best VA mod I've seen. Love this dial design. Well executed by Vostok. I'd go as far as to say if I were to go down to one watch, this would be on the list of potentials as I love my own mod dearly but this just has more only watch potential.

I have 2 modified Amphibias - Don't wear either much due to the cumbersome date change method. May get another in the future but it would have to be a no date. My Gold dial version gets even less wrist time now as it git a small but noticeable scratch on the crystal. haven't got a clue when that happened.

also did another mod for my brother. wish I'd kept it myself

That's why I bought the version I did, with no date. I doubt I would wear one that didn't have a quickset date.

The bezel is a Murphy bezel and the ceramic insert is from eBay. I should note that the ceramic insert isn't the same inside diameter as the crystal, modification to the crystal and or insert is required. That last one with the gray dial, the crystal sits low and I was able to put it on without modification to the crystal.

I have two more ceramic inserts on the way, one for another mod, the other is to replace the insert in the above watch (if you look close in the pics you can see I cracked it right at the 5 marker), I will post pictures of the whole process.

I agree about the date versions with the 2416B movement, they are a real pain to set the date. Also, of all the Vostok's I've owned, the 2415 (dateless) models all keep better time right out of the box and I can generally regulate them to within +-5 sec per day. They are much more stable in various positions. Maybe I just have bad luck with the 2416b or something? That said, my next project vostok will have the 2416B in it.

A few weeks ago I saw this see through glass case back for Amphibia's. It claims to be the first one to maintain the 200m depth rating. But I was put off by how tall it was so I didn't order it. It turns out my curiosity was stronger than my will to not buy it, so I ordered one. It showed up in the mail today.

It is well made and was well packaged. The first watch I tried it on was an empty 710 "Ministry" case I have waiting around for a new movement. As I expected it was very tall and I didn't totally dig how it looked on that watch so off it came.

I then grabbed a 420 from the watch box thinking it would fit and look better since there isn't much case left past the ring on that case style. It's is still super tall but wears well, it wears as tall as the watch would if it were on a NATO.

Next mod will be to blue all the screws on the movement.
