A sales regret found its way home....

Post by Dickchins »

Having sized my collection down a lot, ive got to a few watches I know I actually want.

There are/were 3 watches I regret selling and want to try to get back at some point. Luckily two of them live on this here parish. The third was sold about 3 years ago. Since then ive been looking for one, but in 3 years ive oly found one for sale in America, and its listed at far more than its worth. Even to me!

Small miracles obviously do happen, as the exact watch I sold, popped up on ebay and has been scooped up. Number 39/100 is home! Now I just need a certain Zero West and Breitling back and my watch life is regret free!

A black/brown and orange watch sounds minging, and may not be to everyones taste but I adore this watch. Its in my forever collection and going nowhere again!

Pictures are a bit pants as ive clearly lost the knack of watch photography!

Wow, fortuitous! Clearly this exact watch was really meant to be yours all along. Glad you had a good boomerang outcome.

IIRC that was the last Zelos model with a Swiss movement, and the last with that particular dial design. They have made some rather special halo pieces, but Mk 2 Mako was the pinnacle of Elshan’s “regular” watches IMV. Perfect size, excellent dial balance, their best ever handset, and the ever so slightly larger crown.

One the subject of the ZW, tell me you didn’t sell the Café Racer @Dickchins!

Im not 100% on the movement ill be honest.
Im pretty sure theres a thread on the importance of movements but to me its not that important.

It is however (to my limited knowledge), the last with this dial design. I think it was brought back in a recent model but nowhere near the detail of these. The dial was much more muted, as if painted on, not actually machined as this one is.

Im a big fan of Zelos, but mainly their older origional models. I dont really go for the metiorite dial stuff they do now. I appreciate it, but its just not my speed. This rascal is utter perfection imho! Larger offset crown just gives the eye that bit more to process after you get lost in the dial!

(Oh and ok ill not tell you I sold the 1 off Cafè Racer..... but I now only own the 1 off prototype.... ](*,) :datz:

There's some good karma running for you there Paul.

Presumably the Zelos was being sold on eBay by someone other that the person you sold it to. Even more remarkable that you've been able to get 'your' watch back.

Enjoy it.

Thanks Guy!

From brief messages with the ebay seller, we're both pretty sure he bought it off me as the timeline fits. Neither of us can see who we sold to / bought off. Either way, its home to stay!!!
One ticked off the list!

First off, nice to see you back round these parts, Paul. You were a fairly regular poster when I joined the forum. Many regular posters seem to have disappeared of late, but there's quite a few new members too. That's a great story about the Zelos, the universe seems to have aligned for you, as the saying goes. I like the dial and colours too btw, it looks great from where I'm sitting. Glad it found its way back to your wrist.

Well done for finding this and good luck with the others you’re in the hunt for.

I’ve never bought a watch back that I’ve sold, I’ve never even bought one that was the same. I have had a few Bremont S300s and a few CW tridents and sealanders but they’ve all been different colours.

Ive not done it before this. I can highly recommend it, as instead of giving the feeling of making a new friend, its more like having an old pal back in your life. Just feels right!

Or be far more cleverererer than me and dont sell the watches you love in the first place!!!!! Lesson learned....
