I love the clean, classic 2 handed 112, but can't afford it
I thought about a custom Getat with a clean dial, but I'd know it's not a Panerai.

Watches are like Dictionaries; the worst is better than none, and the best cannot be expected to go quite true.

It is a real struggle isnt it. On the one hand, if you like the design, the Getat is a bloody good watch, and the sterile dials are pushing it away from the rep issue.rcherryuk wrote:I love the clean, classic 2 handed 112, but can't afford it

The trouble is that they are so distinctive, that as soon as you see the sandwich dial and the case shape, you automatically think Panerai.
I had an "homage" before I got my 024 as I was not sure I could live with that crown guard. It turned out I could.
If I am honest though, I say if you like the Getat, go for it! You are not trying to pass it off as anything else.
Funny how many Rolex sub homages there are and no one bats an eyelid, but Getat etc get slammed for doing their homage.
I am being a bit of a hypocrite here however, I actually have just criticised a watch in another thread for exactly this!! Although the Marina Militare on the dial of the other one does make it a bit more suspect.
I seem to change my mind all the time on this subject.

I have always liked this one, a PAM 312 with a Panerai in house movement. So much so, that I was banging on a New AD's door while they were still fitting out the shop, I think I might of looked a bit keen!
Classic sandwich dial with seconds at 9 and date at 3
Not bad lume!

My first impression was to walk away but the more I look at the PAM 312 the more I appreciate the design and the Panarei in house movement. I'm tempted to give The Watch Gallery a call, even the preowned prices are close to new watch.

the PAM 312 is a fantastic looking watch and that movement looks magnificent through the exhibition back .I certainly wouldn't mind one of these

Given the £5k is a smidge outside of what I would ever remotely consider paying for a watch , I'll stick happily with my Getat even with its attendant "issues".

It wasn't that much then but shows how quickly they put the prices up!highway62 wrote:Given the £5k is a smidge outside of what I would ever remotely consider paying for a watch , I'll stick happily with my Getat even with its attendant "issues".
