Go to the page for the watch in question. Click the calendar icon.

Click the padlock icon at the top to unlock the wear history list. Add whichever dates you want for said watch.
Excellent - Cheers for the quick reply
I'd not noted the calendar icon on the first look

Awesome, glad you're both enjoying it and finding new uses for it!

I've been really up to my eyes at work the past few weeks so v1.4 is running behind a little, but hoping to add some additional sorting options into v1.5 - possibly also price stats.

Good shout on make Vs make + model options, now that I've got a settings page for the charts that makes sense as another option to add there and shouldn't be a big change.

I'm expecting work to quieten down to a more normal pace over the next week or so, so keen to get back to playing with this :)

Seems like over the last few weeks I am seeing long launch times on the app. Especially if it has been closed for a while. So long that it makes me think that the icon tap didn't register. I am on iOS, 16.1.1 iPhone 13 Pro.

Eep!

If you do a backup how big is the watch box file? I wouldn't expect it ever to get 'too big', but it does load into memory on start up. For me the app loads fairly quickly but the ads take ages (which for most is probably a good thing as I expect loads of people never see them  )

Did the behaviour change/slow down since the last release? In v1.3 I made some updates in the background that now check some settings while the app loads, but they should be super quick 😶
I can try to move that (and possibly some other actions) out to after startup and see if it improves things.

The hive is only 23k which isn't that big. I think it has been around since V1.3 but I can't be sure. I am also fairly certain it only happens after the app has been in the background for some time. I'll keep a closer eye on it. It was slow when I first opened it today but has been fine since then. I probably won't open it again until tomorrow.

A wee quick new year bump - firstly, clearly I'm waaaay overdue with the next release of the app. I had hoped to get it out well in advance of the new year, but through a combination of work and lazyness I've hardly touched it! (with the dark Scottish winters I find it far harder to motivate myself to work on things in the evenings!)
I haven't forgotten about it though, and have made good progress figuring out how to add payment options (honestly, I think I'm just less motivated to add in something like this too - it makes it feel like work! and it's meant to be for fun!) and to fix a bug where watch names don't show on every graph line if you go above 35ish watches (varies a bit by screen size).

In other news though, and the real reason for the bump - I remembered this morning that the list of years in the graph filter is static... and doesn't include 2023! So I'll get a patch out today for that (should be available in a few days once the app stores approve it) - I do have it on my 'to do' list to make this dynamic, so it'll only show years tracked in the collection itself!

Anyway, hope you've all enjoyed using the app in 2022 and have set up the alerts so that you can get a full 2023's worth of data out of it
Happy New Year!

Just installed and started adding the collection - a very nice app, well done so far!
Screenshot_20230101-204254.png
My only initial thing I didn't like was the toast notifications when adding a watch. It's a bit alien to a native Android app, and the styling looks a bit iOS? I'm more used to seeing this small black style I guess. Same with the UX styling of the "do you want to set up a daily reminder" popup.

It might also be nice, while adding or updating a watch, to autocomplete (or offer a search based on entered basic data) the fields using something like https://datafeed.watchbase.com/ as it's a pain manually copy/pasting more detailed info like model reference numbers etc. It would also help get data into the app to have more categories to sort watches by, down to things like lug width etc.

Enjoying it though, and definitely do a "remove ads" option as I'll happily pay a one-off to support such a useful app!

I thought I’d give this one a go this year instead of the on my wrist app I’ve used for the last few years. However I struggled to upload watch photos without it timing out and saying the photo couldn’t be added.

Is this an issue or did I just struggle with a slow connection due to a poor signal?

The app doesn't need to go online at all, really - how it handles pictures will vary slightly by platform (Android/ iOS) and potentially by device (particularly with Android phones).

Essentially when you choose to add a picture it'll either try to access the default gallery app on the phone, or the default camera...once a picture is selected (I notice on my Pixel I have to take the picture then press a 'tick' to confirm I'm happy) it'll then open an app to crop it to a fixed aspect ratio (again, this can differ by platform, as the app just tells the phone to use it's own software) - after that, the cropped image is essentially passed back to the app.

Hard to say where the issue could be because of that (may complicate it more if you're accessing the image from cloud storage - if so, may be worth trying to save to rhe phone locally first incase it is a download issue)

Could you grab a screenshot or video of the failure and I'll try to help more?

^^^^ I’ll see if I can recreate the problem later. It was last week I tried to do it and haven’t tried again since.

A wee update on this - v1.3.1 should now be available on both Android and iOS, so if you update you should see '2023' available in the chart filter! Nothing else has changed, but due to the version bump you may get the 'app updated' pop-up again, however I didn't amend this, so it's just the standard 1.3 text in there.

I meant to reply to this too, sorry jtc!

I purposely chose the more 'iOS-ey' toast messages as I thought they looked a bit better with multiple lines of text in them - they're also triggered by a separate library that makes using them super easy - in the future I might do some kind of 'theme' update though to let you pick your own (at the moment it just does light/dark, but theming should be pretty easy!)

I love the idea of using an API to pull in watch data - I wasn't aware of that watchbase one, so thanks for sharing - the big limitation though is cost - that looks like a pretty expensive API to use ($0.25c per watch, i.e. per request  there are other APIs, perhaps for less specialist purposes, that allow tens of thousands of requests for a few dollars a month! ) despite the ads, I don't expect to ever turn any kind of profit from the app, it's built for fun, even if everyone that had downloaded it so far gave me $10 I'd have earned a tiny % of the UK minimum wage for the time spent building it  So to add the API, even as a pro feature, I'd need to make the app more expensive than it's really worth to make use of that :(

Hope you continue to find the app useful, as I've said many times please feel free to shout out any feedback as it springs to mind - I've got a nice big backlog to do (and honestly haven't done much in a couple of months) but I'll start rattling through updates again as the sunlight returns I'm sure

If anyone's really liking the app, a wee review on the Google/Apple store would be great too (hell, feel free to write one even if you hate it! I think from a store listing point of view any engagement is useful!)

Tried again to use the app but whenever I try to upload a photo it doesn’t work and I get this message.

I’m using the latest IOS on my iPhone and all photos are on the phone not in the cloud. I also input all the details and try to load the picture afterward, just before I would save the watch.

I wonder if it's a permission issue? The app will need permission granted to access the photo gallery - I've not got my iPad to hand to check, but I think you can check the permissions accepted for the app somewhere in iOS settings.

It seems to allow me to do it if I upload the photo first, however if I add the details and then upload the photo it seems to freeze and eventually time out.
