Who is the forum........
Who is the forum........
Who is the forum.........
Joker, wise owl, photography genius, sensible head, most observant, well appreciated, educational, inspirational, and all just all round good egg?
Who is it that when you see they’ve posted make you think “I’m going to like this post” before you’ve read it?
There won’t be one person that ticks all boxes but which names always make you smile, feel you’ve learned something, always agree with, love their photo skills, or appreciate what they have to say?
I’m not going to reveal my thoughts just yet, I’m going to sit back and see what comments come in first, it would be good to hear who out there deserves some recognition from the members for their input on here.
Please note I didn’t include anything negative in my list above so I don’t expect anyone to say I’m the class idiot......

Re: Who is the forum........
Ferg (MiniMpi) is the forum. He was the first person who reached out and chatted a bit when I first joined. I was so daunted by it all and a welcoming chat was really appreciated. As you can imagine I stuck out like a sore thumb when I first joined. Must have been the hat I was wearing or something???

Ferg definitely epitomizes what the forum photos are all about. He always manages to show a watch in the best light possible.

Re: Who is the forum........
For me, Rich (rkovars) IS the forum. His posts hit on all cylinders - rich in knowledge about watches, quick witted with his comments, wonderful style to his writing, etc. I think his selection for the FLE design team speaks volumes about him (and the others on the team).
I’m always eager to read his posts, whether it’s an original thread he starts or a comment he adds to someone else’s threads. Add to that a great collection of watches, to boot!

Re: Who is the forum........
I think the forum is a great collective and more than just one or two key contributors albeit I do agree with some of the stalwarts named above.
If pushed I will give a shout out to Guy (@Barnstormer_vRS) who often takes the time and effort to post helpful responses to many questions that are asked on the forum e.g. the foggy watch problem today.

Hear hear! It’s flattering to be mentioned by a couple of people but what Patrick says nails it.
There’s no I in TEAM.

There are many forumites whose posts I look out for. All for different reasons.
It is a sum of more than its parts.

Agree, there is no "I" in team but there is an "I" in champion. I think I have named three that deserve the accolade.

Re: Who is the forum........
I think this is the best answer.
I won't dispute any of the names mentioned as all are great people and terrific inmates. I just don't think you can pick one. Perhaps at any given time you could say that one contributes more than another, but overall it is the efforts of all that makes this place.
The forum has an ebb and flow where many inmates come and go. Some remain for many, many years. Those that contribute all matter in how this place has developed over the years. Some inmates have taken part in Admin and others in FLE development. Some have merely been part time contributor's. Some are mostly lurkers.
While we may have a favorite member to follow, many just read everything and pay no notice. Some may be more knowledgeable than others but that points to why we are here. We all want to have some fun, but we come to learn, teach and share our interest in horology.
That is why I agree ....."I think the forum is a great collective...."

^^^^I am following along these lines too. Everyone brings something to the mix. I am a constant user of the unread post quick link and try to read everything of interest. If I can contribute and help out all the better!
Some contribute their photos. Some their rabbit hole starting posts, some thought provoking posts along with a lot of just plain old good general info and experiences.

Re: Who is the forum........
I started this a few days ago and have waited for others to comment before adding my thoughts. I originally had my own ideas about who to mention but reading the comments that it’s more about the group has got me thinking a little differently.
I enjoy those threads where one comment takes things down a different track and we all seem to bounce off each other. With these it’s about everyone’s contribution, no matter how small, and between us we seem to be greater than the sum of our parts.
Scooters recent introduce yourself post shows how we are all little different but share a common interest and it’s this variety that makes this place for me.
