i feel quite relieved that others are around on the forum often through the day! i had assumed that you were all stealth posters - that if you weren't posting something you were offline..... i'm definitely overdosing at the moment, but that waxes and wanes. of course i also think that this is a great forum, so i underrstand why people would come and hang out here

when do you use the forum?

I think it's quite normal for your interest levels to wax and wane. Well, I think is normal as that's what happens to me. :)

Occasionally my peak interest levels coincide with a lull in forum activity; that's a circumstance that I find a little frustrating as I refresh the new threads page in Tapatalk. :( At a few times forum activity buzzes at a rate that I'm not inspired into keeping up with and I skip over a lot of stuff. Generally though things that get the forum going are of interest to me, so my biorhythm tends to stay in sync with that of the forum.

When I worked I would check the forum on my work desktop during a lunch break, but never logged in or posted, as this would generally be restricted to an hour after dinner and more at weekends.

Now that I am retired I look and post more, checking the forum whenever I want (except when we are sat down for a meal, where phones and the like have no place), flicking between here and TZ-Uk, where there are generally dozens of new threads in "Watch talk" each day.

Am more selective now, with most time spent looking in the other brands and off topic bits of the forum.

Even on holidays, whereas I never used to be bothered if the accommodation had Wifi, I still look and post a fair bit.

I am trying not to look at anything on line after about 9:30pm, but am finding it more difficult than I thought I would.

is TZ-UK a good forum? quite a few here seem to be members of both. i've never investigated it because i thought i'd just get overwhelmed, and also because i feel at home here now, and joining another forum would be like walking into a noisy room of strangers feeling lost!

I use TZ-UK (and WUS) if I'm trying to research something I couldn't be an answer for by searching here, but I don't partake regularly, and rarely browse either one. WUS in particular can be a bit overwhelming and quite cliquey from what I've seen.

My impression of both (as an observer, not as a participant) is that they have a lower tolerance level (the members, not the mods) than the homey, more welcoming atmosphere here. I find I need to be quite selective about opinions and "information" as there's more bluff and noise and (I believe) a lower average level of knowledge than here. Note, that's on average, as there are some very informed people there, but they seem to be in the minority. Those that know a bit, but not a lot can be quite disparaging of those they consider to be less knowledgeable... [edit] or that have less expensive collections than them! The worst sort of attitude! [end edit]

Of course. :) I stress again, they're my impressions. I think TZ-UK is quite a bit better than WUS though.

I reckon there is no comparison between TZ-UK and WUS. WUS holds no interest to me.

Level of knowledge?
- I reckon from what I have seen that there are a far less knowledgeable number of folk on here regarding any brand you care to mention than on TZ-UK.

Friendliness and tolerance?
- The CW forum is friendlier and more tolerant.

Opportunity to view rare and exotic watches (not necessarily expensive ones)?
- TZ-UK by a country mile.

Give it a go - there are plenty here who are active on both.

I typically drop in for 5-10 minutes every few hours and just look at the "Top Topics" column on the homepage. I rarely browse the board unless I am already aware of a topic that interests me and was possibly pushed out of the "Top Topics" by overnight UK activity.

I tend to keep the forum open on a tab in a browser on my work pc all day, but don't always have much time to look at it. When I do, I might have a quick read of something, but normally any posts I make are in the evening - unless it's something I can state fairly quickly (like this!). :)

At other times, I check the forum quite regularly on my phone. Normally more to read than to write.

I have e few favourite topics I check most days after work and sporadically during the evening. Unlike AVO I tend to go to bed late, so checking topics after midnight is not uncommon.

I think I spend just the right amount of time here.

The "top topics" isn't top topics - it's just the newest posts.

If you look at the wrong time I think you will find the "top topics" are the last few CW watches listed on eBay, rather than posts of wider interest!
