I live in Gloucester and that is one place we avoid like the plague at that precise time of the year. It’s gridlock for those peeps what gotta work and live their ordinary lives.

Strange to hear people mention Cornwall as I live on the border and go there at least once a week for work, I guess i'm blind to its beauty or just blase to it after 40 years of not paying it much attention.

Of the places i've been

EmpuriaBrava in Spain

Maybe because it was my first trip abroad or because I got to Skydive with that view everyday when I was there.

Valencia is one of the few places I've visited numerous times. (Motogp , last race of the season) , so also has fond memories.

I have always loved traveling to the Canadian Rockies, especially Jasper and Banff. Both places are around 4 hours from where I live. Camping is spectacular, hiking is incredible and it is my favourite place in the world.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have to put up with the madness of Festival week whilst trying to get on with your normal daily lives.

Anywhere with mountains, big sky and water are sure to have my Gaelic side singing. County Sligo, Mont St Michel in Normandy and halfway up one of the mountains near Dolgellau all feature as favourite places. For multi-cultural urban hustle and bustle, it has to be Amsterdam.

GolfJunky, I was really pleasantly surprised when I went to euro-disney. Only booked to sweeten the Mrs at the time, as I'd dragged her around Paris for 4 days and to Le Mans for the Motogp. I wasn't expecting much but The 2 days in Disney, with no kids in tow, were a roller coaster fest, with no queues in May, and really made the holiday.

Petra in Jordan is on my list of places to visit. I'd be interested if anyone's been?

I'd have to say my favourite place is Edinburgh, where I have lived for the last 25+ years. Lovely city and a lot of nice semi-rural walks and cycle routes right on our doorstep. There are many other lovely places in Scotland I also like, you've mentioned a few above.

I have been lucky to have travelled quite a bit with work over the years. The favourite places I saw with work were probably New Zealand which is beautiful and Tokyo which is a fascinating city.

My favourite two places to travel though I'm going to say New York which has such a great buzz, I'm going there again for a holiday in a few months and Nice which I absolutely love and have had a number of holidays there. The weather and the setting on the Bay of Angels is beautiful and nothing better than walking or cycling along the Promenade des Anglais.

A hillside overlooking Low Bradfield on the outskirts of Sheffield. Just a few miles from where I was born and raised, it's one of the finest views in the area overlooking a pretty village and a local reservoir - Dam Flask..
Thanks for posting that choice. Brought back memories. I had an aunt who lived her whole life in Low Bradford. She lived in Foxhole Cottages just across the road by the side of Dam Flask. When I first used to visit her cottage didn't have electricity and ironically, since she was so close to a reservoir, no mains water or drainage. She never did get these. Both she and my uncle are both buried in High Bradford. Glad to see the view has not been spoilt.
