Being a big fan of The Jam in my youth, it was sad to ready of the death of drummer Rick Buckler, recently and the relatively young age of 69.

One of their best known tracks…

been listening to some video i took of Lachy Doley last week in Annapolis. funk/blues organist out of Sydney, Australia. been a fan of his for a few years after finding this song in youtube while looking for something else. he built a whammy bar into his clavinet and he plays some incredible stuff with it, along with his vintage hammond organ playing thru a vintage 70s leslie cabinet. rhythm section is tight, too. can't recommend catching one of his shows enough if you like this style of music. they put on a helluva show and just a genuinely nice guy to chat with after the show. hoping to catch him again when i'm in sydney for work in september. turns out he has a regular gig on mondays with the house band a couple of blocks from our sydney office.

I couldn't get to see the film last week, so have had to wait until today for the release of the album of the film of the concert.

Steven Wilson has done a good job with the remix.

In the ‘80s Andy Summers and Robert Fripp collaborated on a couple of albums. I had these records at the time and they were rather different to my usual high school listening. Great music in a somewhat oblique direction. These two are amazing guitarists, independently talented and well known, though these records are not so well known. Finally, they are back in print - and on CD/Blu-ray. My copy arrived yesterday. :) Another excellent essay from Sid Smith adds to the package. Give a listen.
