Great post Scooter and great watches. I am sure that the new owners will enjoy them. I am very envious of your new wheels; I ditched my Scoot when I moved back from Oz (although nothing as nice as a Vespa!) and still miss the ride to and from work. At least with this community, you can be assured that your watches have gone to loving homes!

Thanks Steve

Many a happy ride I've made on the country road that runs parallel to the A36 Warminster to Wilton and then main roading into Salisbury.

Check out these fantastic village names that I run through, occasionally pulling into a thatched pub for a pint on the way.

Sutton Veny, Tytherington, Corton, Boyton, Sherrington, Stockton, Bapton, Wylye, Hanging Langford, Little Langford, and Great Wishford. Twenty miles in all.

Hell, I might even do it tomorrow.

Hell of a week for a sales virgin scooter. Some special meds for you.

From my perspective, I think it takes great courage to sell. Thankfully I don't need to.

I hope you place some photos of these watches on the new scooter somewhere. 8)

There are certainly some great pubs along that route Scooter, and I can imagine that on a sunny day, it's a great route to ride. A lttle bit of a detour from the 36, but the Ship Inn at Burcombe is well worth a visit as you get closer to Salisbury.

What a bittersweet post, scooter.

I feel for you, because those were really great watches that you released to new homes. I've not had the need (or desire) to sell any of my watches, and I can only imagine how tough it must have been for you.

Now I find that although I have absolutely no knowledge about the world of scooters and Vespas in particular, I'm curious to know more about the Vespa you purchased, and why it's so special.

The melancholy in the post is evident, but the story is good. And you made good decisions. It'll probably make it easier in the long run to sell more.

What a shame I missed the Sector sale...

I'm glad it all worked out in the end for you scooter. The first one is always the hardest to part with, but the fun you will get out of your scooter will be worth the sacrifice.

I love your devotion to your Vespa, Scooter. Your post brought tears to my eyes particularly when I remember my Sun Wasp in 1959. I was so poor that I went up and down the A1 from lodgings to home with a bulge in the sidewall of the front tyre that I was forced to replace when it was so big it wouldn't go through the fork! And they did me for £5 for not having a Road Fund Licence out of my salary of £24 a month. Happy days! They really were.

Hope you get those watches back soon!

Great post, scooter - I watched proceedings with a mix of admiration and anguish for you, especially for the C20FLE. I came VERY close to sending you a PM for that one, but just too many other things going on at the moment!

New owners...please cherish! :D

I had a scooter back in 1962, used to use it to travel from my parents place in Highbridge, Somerset to my RAF base at Little Rissington. Also came in handy for visiting the pubs in Bourton on the Water just down the hill. It was called a Capri not sure why I ended up with that instead of a Vespa or Lambretta. It used to do about 90 miles to the gallon not quite enough to get back to camp after a week end. No garages open in the Cotswolds in those days at night, so I had a Tizer bottle full of two stroke and used to tank the thing up in Cirencester. Once I forgot and was sleeping on a bench in the town centre when along came a local officer of the law. He gave me a bed in the local nick for the night, door was left open, and a cup of tea at 0600 in time to fill up and get back to camp.

As for the Capri it had a 93cc engine and would do 50mph downhill with a following wind! I sold it in 1964 to buy my wife's engagement ring!

Happy days!
