Glad to hear you had a great day out Scooter, did you want to look at a Mazda without a sales person pestering you? As you say the older I get I find very simple things give me pleasure. Over the last couple of weeks I was dog sitting for my daughter and just taking him for his morning stroll was very enjoyable.
I very much hope your wife's op goes well, I am sure it will!

Wishing your wife all the best for her surgery. Will she have to be off her feet for a long period after that?

I loved reading the opening post and could visualise everything you described very clearly, as I'm lucky enough to live here. Thanks for going to the trouble of sharing, especially as today is so gloomy in comparison to yesterday! Next time you visit Canford Cliffs, pop into Loch Fyne for a meal. They serve all day and the set menu (also available all day) is excellent value.
I hope you enjoyed the breakfast and good luck to your wife for tomorrow,

I am not a collector of watches. I used to be able to say that and know I was telling the truth.

Lovely story Scooter and sounds like a great day out. I remember the pain involved with the JLC so it's good to know you can still visit the shop and chew the fat.
Regarding the Mazda, are you looking to buy? I bought a Mazda very recently so if you need any thoughts or opinion on the marque, give me a shout

Re: We Just Sat And Chatted About Watches
Many thanks again for your good wishes.
Breakfast was dead tasty albeit "At The Chapel" is a little fashionable for me. The women and by friend love it there though:
http://www.atthechapel.co.uk/
Both my friend (I do have others) and I went to school in Bruton so being there does bring back loads of memories and it is just up the road.
I then took my wife down to Taunton for the day in an effort to keep her mind occupied on more pleasant things.
@ Winnie Bloo. I do love Bournemouth.
@ Dave. I much prefer checking cars out online and then wandering around forecourts when closed.
@ asqwerth. I think she'll be off her feet for a good couple of weeks with a recovery time of around 6 weeks.
@Christam. I've been going to the beach at Canford Cliffs for over 40 years now and love turning tat corner at the bottom of the Chine and seeing the beach and the sea. I've not been to the Loch Fyne but remember it being The Sea Witch Hotel in the past.
@IAJ. Many thanks for the offer but having had 2 MX5s I'm very familiar with the marque. Here they are at the same garage:
@TM and Steve. Thank you. Hope you're still happy with the Aviator Steve.
Sue says thank you for all the best wishes. Here's one of my favourite photographs of her. She's wearing her late grandfather's watch. It's Swiss and dates around the early 1920s.
Sue's grandfather on her mother's side was an amazing man. A scholar and remarkable Linguist he taught himself Urdu amongst many other languages and was sent in the 1st World War to Pakistan. There are many interesting photographs in his album such as these:
Entitled "In my Glad Rags"
"Off to Convalescent Camp in Hills"
Going through his album this seems to be the area of operations:
Places such as Quetta, Hanna Pass, Sabathu and Kaeh are all mentioned. He was obviously not a normal soldier.
In later life he became a Headmaster in Norfolk.

Sounds like a great natter at the watch shop and a great breakfast. The British coast can be a wonderful place and a match for anywhere else on the world.
Love the mx5s. Cracking little cars.
What a fantastic set of photos of MrsScoots grandfather! Very inspiring indeed. How brilliant to have those photos from that long ago! It truly was a different world then!
Also a wonderful photo of MrsScoots herself. Of course it goes without saying that I wish her all the best and a swift recovery.
