Watch Club meet @ Breitling boutique Sydney

Post by Noush »

This month's meeting of the Australian Watch Club was at the Breitling boutique in Sydney's Market St.
Not a brand I've spent too much time getting my head around so it was a good opportunity. Despite that I came second in the quiz session but prize only for the winner - who was a lady sporting a Breitling watch so I guess she had a head start :)
Nibbles and a sake tasting session were also part of the occasion. Never tried sake before so that was an interesting aside.

A couple of pics of displays and also of a green 41mm Navitimer on-wrist. Interesting effect with a wrist roll with this one. The usual phone-pic perspective distortion, it really doesn't wear that big. Wears much like my C65 Trident Diver in fact, only a bit slimmer. I was impressed with it, but is it worth that kind of money with a COSC SW200 inside? Not sure about that....

Well... I think at the kind of money Navitimer's retail for you need to be offering a less stock movement that that. Just my opinion of course. I think I would have been taken more by that superb model of the River speedboat, what a beautiful thing.

Just occasionally spell check is your friend, but not often. I knew what you meant, Des. :)

That sounds like an interesting evening. I've visited the new Breitling boutique in Edinburgh a couple of times. They have certainly expanded their range and broadened the appeal over the past few years. Most of the models are a near miss for me. The few that I really like are too big/tall for me e.g. the Datora. Maybe one day there will be a Breitling that ticks all the boxes for me.

I agree that the Navitimer does seem expensive for an SW200, I see it is £4,000 retail in the UK.

That's a good shade of green on the Navitimer, Chris, but the 'slide rule' would be wasted on me as, even with my specs on, I can't read that sort of detail.

Did you get to see any of the latest SuperOcean Automatic 42 and if so, what are your thoughts? To me there is too much bezel (x2) and not enough dial. :-k :-k

Yes I did Guy.
Seeing it in pictures and videos the same occurred to me but in the metal I thought it looked rather better balanced than that. I really liked it.
