** UPDATE Feb 25th ** Over 20 Years Since My Last Tattoo

Post by malvern_man »

It's been over 20 years since I had my last tattoo so I thought it was about time to get inked again (I should know better at 62 shouldn't I) I had this custom piece started yesterday, I was at the tattoists for 7 hours and under the needle for around 6 hours. I've got another 7 hour appointment on December 23rd.

Before anyone asks...yes it was uncomfortable and I'm very sore this morning  and yes it does have a personal meaning to me.

That's some very nice artwork
Look forward to seeing it when it's finished.

That looks superb, very impressive. I have two tat's, inked when I joined the RN in 1978 I was 17 years old so they are now looking a bit worn. I am 60 next year so you may have inspired me to either re-colour the originals or go for a new one, well done

Hi,

You're correct, they are candy/sugar skulls from the Day of the Dead festival.

Beautiful work so far! I’m eager to see the finished piece.

I have one minor tattoo that barely even qualifies - a line from Anna Karenina that reminds me of my wife. I got it the day after we were married. I’ve been eager for a proper tattoo ever since but haven’t been able to settle on something appropriately meaningful. It will happen eventually!

Each to their own.

I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan of tattoos.

I love candy skulls. If they have meaning then all the better. Looks good line work and colour for your skin tone (similar to mine). Really liking that and youre never too old!

Im booked in just after xmas for my next one (full back). Not looking forward to some parts of it. Least the top of your arm is one of the easier places. It sits really well so far. Love to see the finish.

Obviously not your cup of tea, along with, I imagine, a huge majority on here.
Ink is not for everyone, and I totally appreciate that, just scroll past and move on Image

Congratulations on your new ink, looks fantastic.
As a heavily blasted fella, I would concur it's never too late to get tattooed.
You have chosen the less painful area, but the time you spent in the chair is impressive
Look after it and thanks for sharing

** Update **

I went for a 6.5 hour sitting yesterday to have the rest of the colour put in, and to have the black background done too. I'm pretty sore again today but I think it was worth it. I've got another full day booked for mid January ( lockdowns/restrictions permitting ) to carry on and make it into a full sleeve.

Looking superb mate.
Be aware, top of your arm is a doddle. When you get to your inner and outer elbow, inner and rear bicep, and near your arm pit, itll test how much you really want it. Trust me....!!!!!

Loving it so far though
