Serendipity, karma; call it what you will

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

This C65 Dune GMT LE appeared in the Sales Corner courtesy of our esteemed member Ryan @StrappedUp the day before October 23rd which, as I've mentioned elsewhere recently, would have been my late Father's 100th birthday.

I'd not planned to buy a watch, let alone a Dune, but as soon as I saw that it was #023/200 I knew it had to be bought.

I've kinda done this before buying the last remaining Pinion R-1969 LE to celebrate my 'becoming a Senior' birthday and it turning out to be #023/100.

Numbers can have great significance. I once read a brilliant book by John James called “Chartres: the Masons who Built a Legend.” It was all about the science, art and lore of mediaeval building, using the great French cathedral as the example. It was incredible how many significant numbers seemed to have been built into the cathedral’s measurements.

Congratulations Guy - that's a fantastic watch, and great you were able to get a serial number with such significance to you!

I'm still grumbling that the Dune GMT was an LE - I think it's such a fantastic design I'd have loved to see it as an ongoing model!

Cheers, Grant.

As to an ongoing model? CW has plenty of 'previous' for releasing an open series model following on from an initial LE. You never know your luck.

Guy.

23 is a lucky number in China, I believe. It appears to be unlucky in some mythologies though, so you can take it either way. David Beckham wore 23, ostensibly because Michael Jordan also wore 23. :D

Congratulations Guy, as the first owner from new of your Dune GMT #23/200 i am really pleased to see it has a new home where it will be enjoyed for a very personal reason. I hope you enjoy the watch as much as I did.

Two great looking acquisitions Guy, very appropriate too with the significance of #23.

Congratulations, Guy, both for the watch and the significant number. The watch itself is a great one - the smaller C65 seems to be my preference with CW watches. The extra bonus of the number in the series lends that much more meaning for you.

(I realize I don’t know which one I own of the GMT LE run. :D Will look later. )

I thought I read somewhere that there will be another LE colorway of the Dune GMT in the coming year.
