@Amor Vincit Omnia
@welshlad

I think AVO has made a trip from Dibley to the City. A rather gilded existence… :)

Without giving the answer away explicitly, I reckon you're standing on Gaol Hill.
But as you know, it’s not a prison. 15th century building, so therefore quite contemporary with the Guild of Mastersingers. But not in Nürnberg. :lol:
Part of it used to be a prison, but not anymore. 15th century, as you say, but the clock is a lot newer (c1850).

Does anyone else know where we're talking about? Or care? :lol:
Don't bother telling us, I cared enough to google it.

Knowing where you live Steve, I'm thinking there is a relationship with a yellow Canary.

You do indeed. The mediaeval Guildhall in Norwich, with City Hall reflected in the watch.

^^^@Amor Vincit Omnia
Rather than guess straightaway (which if I am correct would stop anyone else guessing), may I ask…

Are you on an island?

Technically, yes. Great Britain, I believe. But that’s not what you meant. There are a couple of small riverine islets or eyots just across from me.

A further clue, the place gets a few mentions in bawdy English folk songs! :lol:
