Bordering between 4 & 5, might not sell off the mistakes so they act as reminders but certainly looking towards 2-3 quality watches in the future to cover most occasions.

I recognise the stages - from what I have observed from others on the forum, but am having difficulty working out what stage I am at, or more importantly what stage I want to get to.

Whilst I like Dolphins I haven't sold any watches and those that I think I would be happy to sell, would struggle to raise enough to make a significant contribution to add another stage 7 watch.

Where am I?

Probably somewhere between 5&6, although I don't think I've ever really been through Stage 4.

Would I ever be down to just one? No. I have too many family pieces.

Could I get down to a couple plus these, yeah possibly.

Thanks Steve :D

Superb post, I recognise pretty much every stage... Sadly. Wish I could of just started at 6 or 7, but where is the fun in that. I hope I'm at 7 now, I really do.

Of course there is the 8th stage, not strictly falling into being WIS at all I suppose... the " they're only watches after all."

Very pertinent and perceptive assessment of our collection habits there Steve.

For me? Spent many years in Stage 1 then, 4 years ago, discovered CW (via an EVO magazine article) gravitating to Stage 2.

Fairly swiftly moved through Stages 3 and 4.

Skipped Stage 5 and . .

recently moved into Stage 6, selling 5 CWs to fund my incoming Damasko DK15. OK, I know its not an Omega, Bremont, Rolex et al, but it feels like it to me.

Might do some further consolidating in the future, but can't see me ever going to Stage 7.

I got as far as 4 and then left your scale, there is nothing for "Lethargic - interest in watches has waned"!
