I used to have a béret basque. I bought it on a French market for the annual "French Night" when we took the children to Normandy for their language week. When my No. 2 got promoted to Head of Department on my retirement, I gift-wrapped it for him as a badge of office. I'm not sure he was too impressed but I gave him champagne as well.

It wasn't a good look. I only wore it one night a year. Here I am demonstrating how to eat snails.

Inspired by Iain’s hat, I busted out my trilby for the drive up to my wife’s. I got hit with a “take it easy, old man!” at a light. You think it was the hat?

Iain’s Law: Any discussion on the Christopher Ward forum, irrespective of the thread title or subject matter, will eventually lead to someone mentioning the Bel Canto if the thread continues for long enough.
