What century are you guys in?

Air suspension. Control the ride. Soft for the bad roads, and then lower it to the dynamic setting for good handling. Not acceptable or reasonable, but good. My previous car was a BMW 3-series and I'm not complaining!
20th C just about - It's a bit like mechanical vs quartz :D

My Land-Rover is almost 30 years old, but infinitely repairable, so will probably outlast your BMW, but perhaps lacks some of the refinements of a modern car.

Bit like quartz being more accurate, but less loveable.......

Certainly can't argue with that.

Well, one technicality, it's not a BMW. It's an Audi Q7. :D But I still think (know!) your Landy will outlast it... particularly the way I drive it!
So I wish I was James Bond, just for the day.

I do indeed - and (because it is petrol, not diesel) I can start it that way,

but it is still damned hard work
