Of course, that makes much more sense.
I also didn't twig that Mele was phonetically Merry.
I suppose the Greek connection is a mirage, or could there actually be something in that?

Re: The most beautiful songs?
Almost certainly no connexion. When I first saw it I thought it said “meli kalamakia” which in Greek would sound like “honey straws” (μέλι καλαμάκια).
Back (almost) on topic, here’s “Tintinnabulum” (= “bell”) from Karl Jenkins’ first Adiemus album. Once the singing and drums kick in I can almost imagine dancing with Polynesian maidens on a South Pacific beach. The language is entirely invented to sound mellifluous…as do Polynesian languages to my ear.
Here’s some Māori. Isn’t it beautiful?

I imagine you have honeyed tones in your own singing voice, SteveAmor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 5:15 pm Almost certainly no connexion. When I first saw it I thought it said “meli kalamakia” which in Greek would sound like “honey straws” (μέλι καλαμάκια).![]()

Very much enjoyed The Beach Boys documentary on a certain mouse-themed streaming service recently and it reminded me of the simple beauty of this one, which I'm a little surprised hasn't appeared on this thread yet.
I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 16 followers and counting!
