Re: The Golf Topic
Good morning
I just bought some Taylormade Stealth irons.
Following a range session I can safely say they are a huge step up from my callaway package set, in terms of Distance and feel.
Not sure on the forgiveness yet. But the dispersion on the sand wedge was very tight, so high hopes.
I still found it hard to get the 6 iron going and even harder with the 5 iron, included in this set (the callaway set had a 5 hybrid)
But I'm confident a few more range visits, and I'll get the hang of the longer irons.
Regards Steve

Re: The Golf Topic
Hi Steve,
I'm sure the Stealths will be a big step forward with more use and practice although I'm not sure you needed more distance
You'll be hitting them past the back of the hole !
I've never been consistent with 5irons (even some 6irons) so my present set was fitted with iron replacement hybrids for 6,5 and 4.
I presume this new set is from PW upwards? If the Stealths are giving additional distance will this affect your present wedges below the PW?
I hope your new set goes well for you.
Mick

This comes with sensors that pop in the end of the grips for all your clubs and gives an incredible amount of information. Averages and longest for all clubs. Where all your misses are. % GIR left, right, short etc.
The gps function is also the most accurate I have used. (I have used a lot!)
Now I have my Tag I don't see me using it so mates rates if anyone fancies it.
Shame I can't play at present due to a dodgy back !![]()

I've just ordered the Shot Scope X5 which is the new golf watch from Shot Scope and it'll be with me soon hopefully.
I'm going to sell the V3 that I bought from @stefs just short of a year ago in April 2022, so will be posting a For Sale in the SC shortly at IMO a great price.
As in the post quoted the V3 is a excellent GPS golf watch and with the club sensors included it gives an amazing amount of data about your golf which I've found useful over the past year and the new X5 will continue to add to the info collected so far.

Yes, I think it looks good. I didn't see the shipping start date of 11 April but it's not a problem. I've already removed the present V3 sensors from my clubs as I'm not due to play a round for a couple of weeks so I'll be able to put it up for sale sooner.stefs wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 12:13 pmI have ordered the x5 as wellMikkei4 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 2:13 pm(Quoting myself here but) ...............Mikkei4 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 3:54 pm

Re: The Golf Topic
Ive never been, but ive heard of it, as I follow Alex Elliott on YouTube, I believe it's his home club.
He's a top 50 coach, so I think I would have a lesson. If I do ever visit.

Re: The Golf Topic
Hi Steve,
I watch Alex's YouTube videos and think he's really good.
I hadn't picked up where his home course is but I'd definitely try to have a lesson with him if I was at Mottram. I haven't been there yet but I think 1 of my UK golf buddies is a member there so I might be there at some time.
Re: The Golf Topic
Not played or stayed there but I'll ask for some feedback from my UK golf buddies.
Re: The Golf Topic
Couple of my Northern buddies used to be members there, 1 of them has told me.......
Hotel = A Champneys hotel and Spa, big wedding venue, often used by visiting football teams. Recently been re-furbished very nicely.
Course = it's quite long, front 9 is the easier, a "resort" course that has been sporadically maintained at times but has hosted several senior PGA events. Can be a bit boggy in winter.
To be fair, many courses are going to be wet and/or boggy at this time of the year after the snow, freezing temperatures and now loads of rain. Unfortunately it looks like the next 10 days will be wet, at least down South, so I hope it'll be OK for you.
Please let us know what you think after your trip.
Re: The Golf Topic
That's great feedback! We've managed to bag a great deal on it, 2 night's dinner b&b plus 3 rounds of golf for less than £200 so can't complain.Mikkei4 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 7:39 pmCouple of my Northern buddies used to be members there, 1 of them has told me.......

Re: The Golf Topic
I'm enhancing my Befry trip. I've booked an extra night at a nearby hotel, the current itinerary. was tiring thinking about, let alone carrying it out, so the thought of driving home on the Sunday prompted me to extend our break.
So my idea is to stay the extra night, obviously not getting too smashed, then play the Oxfordshire course, instead of heading straight home.
My friend wants to Visit Diddly Squat Farm instead.
So if the Belfry has broken me, that's a fine plan B.
Regards Steve

I've played The Oxfordshire a few times, as it's a fairly short trip along the M40 for me, and I hope you get to play it as it's a must play at least once but better each time you play it. Travelling down from The Belfry will be a more convenient way for you to get to it than making a special trip from Essex to play it.magicman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 3:09 pm I'm enhancing my Befry trip. It was used for professional tournaments in some past years and depending upon the weather can vary between a huge challenge and a huge pleasure across the 18 holes. Water and/or sand are used frequently and the 17th is a major risk/reward hole which you might want to take on with your shot length.
