There is a "Watches and Pens" hashtag over on Instagram where these combined obsessions play out.

I'm guessing that Mont Blanc and Visconti are the Rolex of the Pen World. Christopher Ward came out as a disruptor selling automatic watches direct to the buyer at an affordable price.

I don't know of an equivalent pen company that has a similar business model to CW. In terms of affordability maybe Lamy fits in with fountain pens?

EDIT: I've just done a google search of British Pen Companies, there ain't no shortage of choice!

What about Ellington Pens? This is from their website. Sound familiar?

The all-around 0.5mm pencil that clips onto the binding of my design sketchpad. HB lead can leave light marks, while a few heavy strokes can punch through the page...

i'm not into super expensive collectable pens (or fountain pens).

but my father-in-law makes pens on his lathe as a retirement business and we have quite the collection of interesting pens that he's made for us.
