I also recently heard that it wasn't actually anything to do with Cornwall - there was some piddly link like the owner of the brewery went on holiday to Rock once, and liked it, and thought he'd put Rock on the bottle. Cheating a bit - but I guess it's similar to the whole Cobra beer from India, which is actually from Tamworth. Still tastes nice :)
Well, that's not quite right, but it does show it's worth keeping up with the changes in ownership of breweries. Green King have been active in that area in the last few years.

Bottled Doom Bar, brewed in Burton - that came as a surprise - is available in Thailand I'm pleased to say, Draft Doom Bar, brewed in Cornwall, sadly and inevitably, isn't!

I think the barrels are brewed in Cornwall and the bottles in Burton. Whatever, it's clearly mass produced.....

I still like a pint of Doombar but my current favourite is from the Two Beaches micro brewery in Shaldon, Devon. Shaldon Shag is a top beer.

Just back from Kay's Bar in Edinburgh New Town.
Couple of pints of Loch Lomond Pale Ale - very nice.

Just a quick heads up ~ Tesco seem to be rationalising their range of ales and premium lagers and many beers are reduced to around half price.

May be regional but the two stores in my local town had a (differing) range of beers reduced to clear

These came home with me for safe keeping :D

Asahi
Asahi black
Orme
Celtica
Goose Island
Rampart
Badgers First Call
Samual Adams Boston Lager
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Courage Directors
Metropolitan (Greene King ) Brew T
Mertopolitan (Greene King ) Optical Infusion
Some of their "I can’t believe it’s beer" Revisionist own brand also reduced
Brains Gold (cans)
Fagerhult starköl (cans)

Some good, some less so but all a bargain at around a quid or a lot less

Interesting there mikepj.

Last weekend my local Tesco had a range of bottled ales at 4 for £6 including several of the Cornish ales, Doom Bar and Atlantic, plus Adnams Broadside and others.

No sign of clearance offers but that may be for this week.

4 for £6 seems to be the normal offering for Tesco (thoroughly recommend the crafty hen) ... along with ASDA's 4 for a fiver which comes and goes...

Interestingly, both Asda & Tesco seem to stock a differing range of ales depending on the location of the store... not that I've researched it... much :)

I am blessed to be but a few miles away from this newly formed microbrewery which, since its launch in 2012 has gone from strength to strength.

Only a year after opening, they took the Great Welsh Beer Festival by storm and won Gold (Dirty Stop Out), Silver (FUBAR) and Bronze (Urban IPA) in the Champion Beer of Wales competition.

...And only four months after that, they opened Cardiff's first-ever, fully-devoted craft beer bar called Urban Tap House. It's a beer drinkers haven, go check it out.

in 2014 they won Champion Beer of Wales with FUBAR.

If you can get your hands on a pint of their Cwtch, you'll not be disappointed as it's recently won the CAMRA 2015 champion beer of Britain

Done some research (I have an 'impeccable source') and you're quite correct.

Tesco are rationalising what they sell across the board with focus on wines, beers and spirits over the next few weeks.

Any product that is not on their stock list for the future has to be sold i.e. clearance. There will naturally be local variations, but good opportunities for a bargain.

Further Tesco news.

They are running a Drinks Festival in their 'prom-ailses' this weekend. Lots of special offers on Spirits, Wine and Beer.
