That ‘special’ watch thread....

Post by Richard D »

If I was to single out one watch as ‘special’ from my collection, this would be it. The Omega Geneve belonged to my late father and holds loads of happy memories. Recently I had the watch serviced and I continue wear it on special occasions.

I would be interested to learn if you too have a ‘special’ watch in your collection.

This is my 'special' watch. It was my Dads and he got t for 25-years service to his company - BOC. Its solid gold and engraved on the back with his name and all the details - its not kept in my watch box but in its original Omega box. Its only worn for special occasions - last time out was for Mum's funeral.

My Speedmaster ‘57. I was born in 1957 and I got this last year for my 60th birthday. One day when I’m long gone, it will be my sons 'special' watch.

This my special watch, my father’s Omega Constellation that I wear very infrequently. It was brought back to life by the “WatchGuy” the year before last.

Interesting. So far, this thread is 100% Omega.

I will add to that with my POLM:

This was my first "expensive" (above £500) watch, purchased with some money left to me by my Dad when he passed away in 2011. Every time I wear it, I am reminded of him. I am sure he would not necessarily have understood spending so much on a watch, but I'm equally certain he would have supported my decision.

C65 Trident Vintage given to me by my wife as a wedding gift. The other watches in my incredibly modest collection have been collecting dust ever since. It’s the first thing I put on in the morning (even before my glasses!) and the last thing I take off at night. It’s an ever present reminder that one is never to old to find the love of ones life!

I just hope my son is in to wearing watches by the time this gets passed on to him. Image

A lovely way to celebrate her life.

I’ll break the trend! For me it’s a Frédérique Constant FC715S4H4. My wife gave it to me on our wedding day and it’s become my dress watch for big meetings, events etc.

Although it may get trumped by the C65 Trident I just bought to commemorate the birth of our little girl... can I have 2 special ones? Image

My special watch was an impulse purchase in 2007, about a month before our eldest daughters wedding.

I had always liked the Reverso and thought that I would buy one at some stage. We were in Devon finalising wedding arrangements, when I saw it in a dealers window. I tried it on, then went back to the house for a bit more Reverso internet research.

I don’t normally do rash purchasing of anything, but I went back in the afternoon and bought it.

Worn with rather smarter attire on the big day, I now tend to wear it with more casual clothing.
