What do folks think about STOLAS? Anyone out there have one? I like the look (except the lightning bolt second hand kind of turns me off a little bit).

I suspect that if the second hand were different, I'd be much more serious about pulling the trigger on one of these. Also, I can't find any info on which movement is being used in these things. Real Watch Review.com readers get a 20% discount right now.

Re: STOLAS
I have no personal experience of STOLAS watches but they look potentially interesting at first glance. The lightening bolt reminds me of the secondhand on the Rolex Milgauss - so even on one of the big brands that's not unusual. Their website can be found at this address: http://www.stolaswatch.co/

Re: STOLAS
Looking at the Stolas website it looks like the lightening flash is part of their logo. So IMO ok on the dial as it brands the watch. It is something a little different.

Watches look ok, but I could not cope with the second hand design.

Re: STOLAS
I do like it, but the best part of £500 delivered, and may be VAT and import on top I think not.
Could get one and a half CWL for that.
Also they have a tsunami watch coming out 14th May. Bad taste i think.

I noticed only one is Swiss....The other two they are ashamed to say what's inside...That leaves Japan or China...I bet the last.

Re: STOLAS
That's a good guess Woodell. The movement is an SMC, which stands for Shanghai Movement Company and looks to be a 'clone' of the ETA 2824 movement. It hand winds and it also hacks and has the same beat rate. The true origins of the movement appear to up for debate; some say it is a Chinese DG 4813 movement and some say it is a Hangzhou 6300 movement.
I know next to nothing in terms of accuracy or reliability of either movement, the finishing isn't as attractive as ETA's though.

Re: STOLAS
I quite like them, but they are still nowhere near the top of my wishlist.
I looked at the so-called "Denmark" distributor hoping to see VAT inclusive prices and they're in USD exclusive of tax (oh - and there's no stolas watches on the site. )

Re: STOLAS
Not a fan, properly over priced for what you get and for me- quite a sickly design.
I miss all the great things that may never be.
