Six Nations 2024

Post by Amor Vincit Omnia »

Here we go. France v Ireland in Marseille.

Grand Slam decider on the first night?

What are your predictions? I can’t call this one.

Good point. It’s only February. Usually takes me until about April to realise what year it is. Titles now changed.

Comfortable win for Scotland over Wales :---) (I probably aged about 5 years in the second half)

@Thegreyman Funnily enough, I much preferred the second half. :) The first half was absolutely awful. :(

England did well earlier, with some new faces, against a much-improved Italy team. I fear for us at Twickenham next weekend. 8-[

You can build on the second half for next week. I think Wales have a decent chance.

France will be tough for us if we give away as many penalties.

^^^ I fear that the lower half of the table will feature England, Wales and Italy in some sort of order. I can’t see anyone else beating France, and I think Scotland will be too good for England. I felt sorry for Italy because I thought they played really well. I think it will be an easy Grand Slam for Ireland. Scotland might worry them but I don’t think anyone else will.

I don't mind Ireland beating everyone. They are a magnificent team and a joy to watch. I just hope they don't muller Wales by too many!

I think France missed Dupont on Friday but I'm not taking anything away from the Irish perfomance , still impressive although now the Champoinship now looks over after that win cant see anyone stopping the Irish now

Two close games and exciting finishes. Assuming Scotland are going to be too good for England and Wales beat Italy, we could well be seeing a final order: Ireland, France, Scotland, England, Wales, Italy.

I wouldn’t put my house on it but it looks quite likely.

Mmm, why did the TMO say it was a try then change his mind. Looked like a try to me.

Two very close games.

It was a definite try, in my opinion. The TMO completely bottled it.

Disappointed that Wales let their first half lead slip, but it was a much better performance than last week, with a pretty inexperienced team. Something to work with for the future.

As to the try that wasn’t…

The referee had the best view. He thought it wasn’t a try. Hence his question to the TMO. Did he bottle it? Perhaps he just couldn’t be 100% sure the ball was grounded, therefore insufficient evidence to overturn the on field decision of the referee.

Had the referee thought it to be a try his question to the TMO would have been - “is there any reason not to award a try”…

The TMO would then have said “I am not 100% sure” and the try would have been allowed.

I thought that Finn Russell showed his class when asked about it during an after match interview. Difficult to imagine that a round ball prima-donna footballer would have done anything other than rant.
