I read a fan's comment about the try that wasn't a try after the match - said it had all turned out a bit Scotlandy

Great performance by Scotland.

Earlier, although Wales lost, it was not the hammering I was fearing and some of our defence was excellent. The second half particularly showed some glimmers of hope for the future, against a formidable Irish team.

@welshlad Agreed on both points.

In the end, neither result was much of a surprise - I think third and fourth places are sorted barring any shocks. Scotland could worry Ireland, but I don’t think they will win realistically.

@Amor Vincit Omnia The best Wales can hope for is fifth, if we beat Italy - and that's far from a given, as Italy have improved a lot.

We certainly didn’t dominate England but counter attacked well and took our chances. Also made a difference that Finn Russell was 100% on his kicks.

Italy could be a tough opponent for Scotland in two week’s time after the match they gave France today.

Ireland’s grand slam seems inevitable.

That for sure, and England’s crazy strategy of not defending the wide channels…when you have van der Merwe on the left wing??? :problem:

England seemed to lack the absolute basics of passing and catching too, which is never a good place to be.

Incredible ending to the France v Italy match, couldn't believe it when the ball fell off the tee.

Now I hear England haven't been training "attacking" play....blimey we have no chance, can't pass, can't catch, and no idea..... SB has to go, I think Gatland is the only forward who has been successful in the 6n's as a coach.

Ireland have a wonderful way of attacking with players looping and a second line at times, England's new "rush" or "Blitz" defence will be caught out
I fear England and Wales will be fighting Italy for the 5th spot this year.

Scotland were unlucky against France, poor decision by the match officials, likewise France were lucky against Italy as the French ran towards the kick before he had "offered" to kick, and then when it fell off the ref should have stopped the lock, allowed reset, with no French allowed to rush the kick as they had forfeited that right from running early.

Ireland to win, Wales to lose along with Italy...by a narrow margin, but then I think they could pull it off especially as the Scots/south Africans could suffer from heat stroke in Rome haha

^^^ As England have already beaten Italy and Wales they should be 4th if all results go to form henceforth. No great comfort really.

Such a shame a rubbish England team messed up against Scotland…

I was there at Studio Olimpico today (Scottish girlfriend...) with my CW Atoll. Atmosphere was amazing and the Italian crowd really made the difference in a tight game. They reckon nearly 15000 travelled.over to watch.

And then to cap a great day, England beat Ireland (I watched through a crowd of people in an Italian cafe!).

Good.times all round.

Why on earth did Ireland kick the ball away from their own 25 with a bit over a minute to go? Surely they could have just recycled for a minute, and the clock out?
