it's funny, once you've had a giant breed dog, they just don't seem that big any more. the rest just seem smaller than before. ;)

I was out w/the ex for a walk w/the two dogs and took my Hassey along for a few snaps. Was wearing it around my neck w/the pop-up viewfinder open when wifey asked me to hold Freya for a sec. So I'm standing there holding the two on short leather leashes (no retractables) when both saw a squirrel behind me at the same time. One leash in each hand, they both took off around my right side in a shot heading backwards to me. I was spun around and pulled face down into the dirt. The Hassey was driven into my chest and the viewfinder was smashed. But I held on -- those bast***s were not going to get that squirrel on my watch. Took me two hours later that night to unbend the viewfinder and make it function properly again. Thank goodness I elected not to take the prism viewfinder, or I'd have cracked my sternum. Chest hurt for a good week, and man, what a bruise.

Gawd I loved those dogs.

My Labrador 'Mini' is not well....
Initial tests show possible diabetes so she's on insulin at the moment and has perked up thankfully.
Full blood work up showed liver is inflamed and pancreas.
Hoping it's 'just' diabetes at present and not anything more worrying like tumors etc.

So sorry to hear Ferg, hope it's not too serious and a remedy can be found.

Thoughts and prayers.

Thank you guys ;)
Much appreciated.
She is 11 years old so not a total shock but it all happened over about two weeks which was a bit worrying.
She has perked up quite a bit so I'm hopeful.

it's tough when they get to that age and things start happening. moochie is 8 (but at 140 pounds, 8's getting old) and has recently been diagnosed with larpar (laryngeal paralysis).

so now we're caught in "how far do we let it go before we do surgery?" mode, since there are downsides to surgery, too. he always sounds out of breath, but hasn't had any scary episodes yet.

here's hoping that insulin is all it takes.

I'll echo Kip's best wishes to both of you. Terrible thing when our pets become seriously ill or injured.
