Re: Show your pet!
Condolences to you and your family Alex, on the loss of your beloved family member.
You will forever have all those wonderful memories of having Kiera by your side. Whenever you feel sad, just remember those good times.
Having been through this many times, my thoughts are with you and your family.

My wife is planning ahead. Our frying pan has a loose handle so she’s already bought a new one ready for when it comes apart. It’s currently thrown on top of a cupboard on the corner of our spare/junk/store room.

Re: Show your pet!
This past weekend we had to say goodbye to our dog Riley. This one hit hard because she is the last of 4 pets that we started out with. In some respects time caught up with her (she had a herniated disk and arthritis from three ACL surgeries) but the final blow was suspected cancer somewhere in her head (nasal, oral or esophagus - we weren't going to put her through diagnostics at this point - she had started to lose a lot of weight). Being 14 it was time. She was tired. We spent the week doing all of her favorite things - visiting stores around town that allowed dogs to see her friends, go to the woods, ride in the Jeep with the top down and the beach. She was a really good dog and I will miss her. I have been spotty around here the last week or so and it will take me a few more days to get my 'legs' back.

Thanks Rich.
What a lovely write up and pictures of Riley; she looks a super dog. Always sad when one has to let one's 'pet' go and to have treated her to all the special things she liked is so special.
Thoughts and canine prayers for you.

Re: Show your pet!
For every friend who has a pet who passes I give neo a squeeze and let him know how precious he is to me. I dragged him to the vet and back today worried that he might have a urine infection. He's fine. But to leave him for a week to see if it all resolved itself - well a week is a long time to a dog. And I didn't want him to feel unwell for that kind of size of a chunk of his life. So for your Riley that last week would have been a great chunk of happiness in her life. Time bends. All the best

Re: Show your pet!
@rkovars so sorry that you are going through this. We lost our old girl last year at 14, I'd bought her for my eldest child's 2nd birthday so we couldn't remember life without her. We have two other later additions who are both now 12 this year who we also love dearly, they are in the pictures, a patterdale and a lurcher, Jane and Sky.
Penny had a stroke in the night and was all over the place, unsteady on her legs and eyes rolling. I knew it was time and we went as a family to end the suffering and say our goodbyes. It was actually bloody traumatic and one of the worst things I've been through, worse than the death of some humans I've known!
We still think about Penny the springer all the time and we often speak about her, reminiscing about all the crazy stuff she did and the wonderful memories she left us with, especially as we still walk the same routes and go to the same places with the other two. Anyway, she is never far from our thoughts and like yourself we were blessed to have had her in our lives. I hope you perk up soon. I know it's early days but in the longer term will you get another pup? Not that you can ever replace a dog you lose, just create new and different memories with a completely different character.
Thanks
Pat
