Quick update- Neo is nearly back to his old self yesterday and today. I bought him a chewable bear to cheer him up and he loves it. He can’t do ‘flea bites’ any more, he drools at times he doesn’t expect to, and he’s perturbed when he tries to eat grass. I’m just glad to have my companion back :D

A couple of my favorite pics of our dogs...
1st, Winston standing on the back of a couch in our living room while looking into our kitchen through an opening in the wall separating the 2 rooms..

Next, a pic of Walter standing on our back porch that the wife made to look like a portrait..

Mini dog dramas...

Nelly has had a lump on her shoulder a while. Had it checked and no biggy we were told. Until she decided to lay on the astro and have a wriggle in the sun.
Now theres a 2" diameter hole in her back. Awsome.

Vet cleaned it and shes got meds and antiseptic to wipe on but she already cowers away when she sees me coming with the bottle and a cotton pad bless her. Presume the vet would stitch it but he said no!

Im clearly a bad parent as I feel absolutely terrible when I have to clean it as it clearly hurts her a lot. I dont remember feeling this bad when the kids fell of their bikes and I was cleaning bloody knees, elbows, and chins with antiseptic.....!!!!

^^^^ "Mini dog dramas..." - that's surely an oxymoron for you Paul with Nelly being a Great Dane.

Would the reason the Vet has left the 'wound' open be to allow it to drain? If he stitched it any fluid/discharge will just build up again. Perhaps.

Hoping it heals soon.

Poor wee soul...
I imagine the only thing worse for her than the bottle of antiseptic will be knowing she can’t reach round there to lick... :(

Not stitching it will be because there will be a fair chance of it being infected. Stitching it would just keep the infectious stuff in under the skin where you don’t want it.

Hope you don’t have the antiseptic bottle trauma for too long.

was in chicagoland last weekend for my niece's wedding. my brother took us out to the ginormous dog park about 5 mins from his house in deerfield. 20 acres fenced in (off leash), 60 acres unfenced (supposedly leashed). Dany (our dane at the end of the vid) had a great time running with his two labs. i'm insanely jealous of this. he does 3-4 miles every morning before work with the two labs.

^^^ Cheers guys.

Its been a night of almost no sleep as she started to scratch it. Then obviously yelped as it hurt. Then it had to be cleaned again :silent:

Shes not allowed upstairs really, as she only actually hits about 3 steps when she gallops back downstairs, and it would only be a matter of time until a nightmare happened! After torturing her with antiseptic, I felt bad and we had to come up with some kind of way to stop her hurting herself......

20220324_222009.jpg

Wound disinfected, old jumper on, and a sock on her "scratchy paw". Worked a treat. Only downside was its a kingsize bed and I got a postage stamp sized bit of it as somebody took full advantage of my good nature....!

Its a good job we love our pets!!!!

Here’s Neo this morning. Me, Neo and Bear? We look out for each other
