My son built "Derby" last summer at a day camp, and yesterday we took to the shop to add a gun turret to it. The cannon explodes BlackCat firecrackers in the barrel that can propel a light projectile across the room... The elevation adjustment mechanism is part of a case back opener whose casing cracked while trying to open up a Glycene Airman...
The design and execution was mostly his...

The family skipped out on pumpkin carving this Halloween, so we made up for it with the Fiery Christmas Pumpkin... A communal effort from my wife and kids...
Merry Christmas!!!

A little bit of mending/carbon fiber decorating on my wife's glasses...

Tools used... just kidding! Not gonna bore anyone with talk of butane torches, cutoff wheels, 8 inch shears, artists paintbrushes, tiny cloth pins, scalpels, diamond files or gray matter...
I'll just say that it was a wicked cool project!

Somehow I am late looking over this thread, Dan, my apologies. What a talented individual you are. It would appear that a little magic resides in your hands; I'm sure a great many of us wish we had a fraction of your abilities. 99.9% of us on this forum are detail obsessed, certainly when it comes to watches. You are probably one of the few people that knows how to breath life in to raw materials, turning something quite uninspiring in to something to be admired and cherished and, almost always, a one off.

12th day of Christmas, and I'm still elfing around...
Today I burned a belt for my brother out-law! And started designing the opal setting...
