Both. It's the best way to live life, generally.

Re: Research v Impluse Buyer
I think that the forum dwellers by and large fall into the research group. Many of us ended up here in the process of researching a watch for purchase. Of course, I think most of us also have at least a couple of impulse purchases, sometimes fueled by a beverage or two.

I’m very much in the camp of seeing a watch I like then check out the specs to see if it falls into what I would like as far as spec and price is concerned.
I did loads of research before I bought my first bronze, after that it was the Panerai style I wanted, hence my love of Gruppo
Then I wanted a fleiger style and I ended up with. CW C8 mkII automatic after researching.
So it’s the fancy first, then the research.

I do both. On balance neither method works out better for me in terms of keepers, so I'm just going to continue on my merry way. Once I start buying again that is....

Re: Research v Impluse Buyer
Research, with the occasional impulse purchase - although even the impulse purchases will generally have been watches that I have looked at and tried on before. The impulse bit being that I probably wasn’t intending to buy, but saw a watch and thought why not.
I have now reached the stage where I won’t consider buying anything else, unless I am confident it would become one of top 6 most worn watches.
