Re: Recommend me a digital camera
Do take a look at the cameras.co.uk website that Ian has recommended. I've bought a few cameras based on recommendations on the website and I have always been very happy with them. My brother who always knows best has always ignored the advice of experts but he too succumbed and eventually bought a panasonic lumix (someone has already mentioned them) and I have to say the pictures are really clear, great colour and natural looking photographs. Anyway, good luck with whatever you buy.

Re: Recommend me a digital camera
thanks for the advice lads, will let you know what i end up getting.
Recommend me a digital camera
I bought a Sony NEX-5K from Dabs last week for £399. Add to that the £50 cashback from Sony, which runs out today, works out quite a saving on the RRP.
Now all I need is the time to play with it.

I would say Panasonic lumix TZ20 or Sony HX9V...
They both have incredible zooming abilities, and therefore can produce excellent images.
These two cameras are very easy to use, but complete enough to progress if you want to

My wife is putting her Canon IXUS on Ebay as we speak because I have bought her a new one (IXUS). It's 5mp. Very small and lovely, but has a small screen (cus it's a very small camera!) The old ones are made of metal, unlike the new ones, but had no optical zoom. In my experience the IXUS cameras take mega pictures for the size and price of the cameras (and my normal cameras are a 5d and 7d, so I'm a bit of a pixel snob!)
If you buy a £50 half price cheapo, or even a 50% off one at 100, you will be looking for another in a year or two. Our IXUS was quite expensive, and the good upper range IXUS ones still are, but they last. We have had this one for 7 years, and it is still going strong.

Re: Recommend me a digital camera
We got our camera late last week, we went with a Panasonic Lumix FS35.
Spec:
8x optical zoom
4x digi zoom
It has a flash, viewing screem and some buttons, also says 28mm WIDE.
Records in HD.
I had a play with my mates FS16 and was happy with the lag, my Doris didnt want one with lag like her old one. We'll very pleased with the results so far and will do us nicely I think. I will try it out some watch pic's when I get time but in the mean time I have posted a B+W picture of a slug I took at the local park on Sunday.
p.s. Got it for £112 quid which was a few quid cheaper than my mates FS16

Is that like, a chameleon slug - you know one of those that can blend into its surroundings? Clever..
