queen live in montreal

Post by gwells »

playing on palladia.tv right now.

in my opinion, freddie was, and always will be, the best front man ever. unstoppable on stage. the whole band is amazing, but freddie was the man.
the "g" is for Greg...

The Queen 'Live at Wembley' 1986 Music DVD remains one of my favourites for that very reason. The Band were tight and he was a stratosphere above the best that day.

Watch them perform 'Radio Gaga' from that night full volume. Every time I play it the hairs stand up on my arms and and the back of my neck. At 3:14 and 4:56 you see 72000 synchronised pairs of hand at one with Freddie. He was 39, overweight and seemed to be wearing a corset but still had all those there in the palm of his hand.

I never got around to watching the Montreal gig, although I also had it on DVD but sold it on. I can imagine it was great too.

What a sad, sad loss he was.

I've been lucky to have seen Queen live twice. Night at the Opera Tour on 3rd December 1975, Hammersmith London and Live Aid 13th July 1985. Two unforgettable gigs. :D

Owning Led Zep I, II, III and IV (bought on release), I would certainly agree that they are a great band.

In terms of best frontman, that will always be a personal choice.

Isn't Paul Rodgers playing with Queen these days? Another great rock vocalist.

He did from 2005 - 2009. I'm not sure if he is now. Free and Bad Company, two more good/great bands.

I was definitely born in the right era. I saw the beginnings of the Beatles and the Stones, and still love my music. There are some class acts coming through as well. I would love to see the Killers live.

Yep, always good new talent coming along. Not exactly 'new' but Kelly Jones vocals on the last Stereophonics album are excellent.

I watched him on DVD sing 'Substitute' with Roger Daltrey at the Whos Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2000 and he was brilliant.
