Interested in the electric outbound. What make is it and what’s the capacity and range?

I’d guess it would push a light displacement boat like yours along quite well :

Cheers Tim

The make is Torqeedo and the model is Travel 1103C.

In theory it's having 20 hours run time and 70 km range (slowest speed, optimal conditions etc.). The propulsion power is somewhere near to 4 bhp petrol outboard motor.

I’ve heard of Torqeedo, they seem to be increasingly popular.

I’ve a Yamaha 5hp outboard that I only use as a auxiliary until I’m in open water and can hoist sails. Noisy, messy thing, maybe an electric replacement in the future :-k

I bought that Torqeedo to use as a auxiliary motor for my sail boat (long shaft). I got tired to noise, exhausts fumes, it weights less and is easier to operate

But currently using it in that small boat - it's almost noiseless and fun to ride :D

@timor54, @Korkki - a very interesting concept and evolution to go electric for your outboard.

As a non sailor, what are the practicalities of charging the battery?

As I understand it the battery unclips from the head of the motor. Therefore it can be taken home to be charged. Or indeed swapped for a spare.

A lot more scenic than my morning ride on the Turbo Trainer! We had folks to lunch, so I hopped on for an hour whilst the smoked gammon was cooking.
Hot and sweaty in the garage.

How did you get Scooter to stay still long enough for stuff to grow?
