I well remember the village of Sixpenny Handley having signs at either end of the village showing 6d Handley. Political Correctness put paid to them decades ago.

Good to see the Finger Post finials still show it.

Don’t know why he landed on the riverbank but he sat for ages with the engine off and the door held ajar. It was probably too warm to be sat in a Perspex bubble. When he took off, he dropped right down to within feet of the river and hugged the centre for a while. If he was showboating, he impressed me!

Rode this today, courtesy bike. Never been interested in scooters but christ this thing would tour Europe far far better than any bike ive seen or riden. So much comfort and room you never feel tired or weary. Unbelievably quiet and luxurious. 100mph with no fuss from a 300. Bloody boring in daily life but like a luxury yacht in the right conditions

Indeed I am stunned by how good this scooter is, it's amazingly accomplished. 650cc is overkill though.

Another pleasant evening meant a 24 miler to Longleat and surrounding area.

^^^I do like Bath, reminded me a bit of Edinburgh when I visited with the all the Georgian buildings. Especially loved where we stayed on Royal Crescent.

Living relatively close, I have rather taken Bath for granted Patrick.

I well remember hitch hiking there most Saturdays with friends.

We always split up into pairs and often passed each other on the road.

I think the Royal Crescent Hotel must have let any old riff raff in back when I stayed there, probably more selective with their clientele these days!!

Went to Uni at Bath. Very fond memories, together with some very hazy memories. I lived in a flat above an antiques shop at the top of Landown Road.

I worked in Bath for many years in the 80s.

Meanwhile here is my Focus today in stealth mode on a little used bridge over the Beckington bypass.
