Poll: Which is the Case Fancier's Case?

Post by Noush »

Couple of things I REALLY fancy. A Sector Dial. A Salmon Dial. Gimme both at once :)
But here's The Thing: That sounds like this is all about the dial, doesn't it?
Truth be told though, I am as much motivated by an interesting case as anything else about a watch.
With these two, quite the opportunity. Very much taken by both pieces.
Which do YOU think is the 'Case Fancier's Case'?

I think both are, but for very different reasons. My selection in the survey was pure personal preference.

I have a Mappin and Webb Clarendon that's somewhat similar in design to the second one. The case shape is interesting and attractive, and a change from the norm, and it's grown on me over time. I think I would prefer ithe Farer without the grey though, and definitely without the Roman numbers.

I've just had a look and I actually prefer the other Farer models with Arabic numbers to the Durham, but then they aren't salmon pink unfortunately.

This is the M&W

The Furlan Marri looks like a classical lug style done well, while the Farer looks like a pretty fresh take on a traditional cushion case. I appreciate them both for different reasons but like things that seem a bit out of the ordinary. So looking at case only I like the Farer

So I should ignore the watch face entirely?
I once owned a vintage , and therefore really quite small, Bulova with those horned lugs and they were a complete distraction from the watch.
Therefore my vote goes to Farer and either the Durham as shown ( which was only pipped to the post by my Baltic MR01) or the Mansfield and its silky green-ness.

That's a very interesting and worthwhile observation about the lugs.

I've had a pic of the Mansfield on my desktop for a couple of days and I'm nearly convinced....

I like both cases, but prefer the Furlan Marri with the CyS style of lugs.

The dial colour is another question. I know it’s popular but the only thing I do with salmon is eat it.
