Re: Pics from the walkers
Not sure if I posted these, but September 2023 we went to the lake district, and in temperatures in the 30s, my son spent the day on Helvellyn. He even had a swim in Red Tarn on the way down. So a couple of his photos

A sunny morning for the tufted ducks. A couple of dozen on the pond. I managed to capture six in the pic…

A pleasant ten minutes or so watching them dive, but still remaining visible a few feet down in the clear water.Neil

Re: Pics from the walkers
Fabulous Easter Sunday walk. Combining two favourite loops over 8km. Perfect weather and big Norfolk skies. Never more than 1.7km from home at any point. So lucky to have this.
My usual walking buddies are away for Easter, so I didn’t go to the pub.

Re: Pics from the walkers
^^^^ Nice one Steve.
I did a similar, albeit shorter, walk from home a couple of days ago, going around some fields and through woods.
The main thing I noticed was how dry and hard the ground currently is. We need some rain.

Very much so, Guy. I’m reminded of a wonderful old school groundsman, the only person I’ve ever met who could make “rain” into a three-syllable word: “We need a bit o’ RAA-AA-EEN!”

Re: Pics from the walkers
Wonderful pictures in a lovely rural setting Steve, but I am curious as to the yellow flowering fields. Looks like canola to me. Many months ahead of us, as our canola is usually planted in mid May and harvested in September. Looks like that must have been seeded last fall.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 7:10 pm Fabulous Easter Sunday walk. Combining two favourite loops over 8km. Re: Pics from the walkers
^^^^ Spot on, Dwight. Canola it is.
Quite a widespread crop, certainly in SE England and East Anglia. A good yield / income and tends to be used in rotation with cereal crops (usually barley or wheat).
We've had a pretty dry and fine spell of weather for the last month or so and, having been planted in the late autumn, it has sprung into life in recent weeks.
Hopefully, Steve won't mind me answering.

Guy is correct, Dwight. There’s a lot of it around here. The scent can be quite heady; some people hate it but I don’t mind it.

Tough descent from Kirme to Ölüdeniz, reversing the classic first stage of the Lycian Way in Türkiye. Sharp and steep over fragmented rock and a fair bit of mud after two days of rain, but the views were spectacular!

Just a short walk from home this morning, it’s a nice day out so I’d better ensure I stay “adequately hydrated” when I venture into town later.
